MotoGP » Marco Simoncelli: Oops, I did it again...

Nebari, I can see what you are saying and I'm sure HRC wanted them initially to race and let the best man win. However, with the ill timed pass on Pedrosa (another brain explosion as he had the pace and could have taken him cleanly a bit later) they have a new dynamic that they wouldn't have thought of. He just can't adjudge when best to do things, this is not the mark of a future champion. Now HRC sit with only one chance at the title and a team player in Dovi doing the right thing along with a buffoon who thinks he is the second coming. HRC shouldn't even need to sit and do the math with him. He is NOT in contention for the title, by all means race but don't do any high percentage stuff on a team mate. How long would Hayden last at Ducati if he pulled this nonsense on Rossi? sort of answers your question.

MotoGP » Yamaha postpones first test of 2012 prototype

I think both Honda and Yamaha are being smart, why show Ducati their hand this early and at Mugello. Honda are well sorted for 2012 as I'm sure Yamaha will be. I think it possibly shows how comfortable they are with their own testing not the reverse. It will be Ducati who are worried as the front end problem rears its ugly head once more with the new found extra rear grip in Assen.

Serious question for me is: What to do if you are HRC? This clown has already partially derailed this years campaign by his Pedrosa take down. They have Stoner left as the only realistic hope to gain an 800 crown. How much do they want it? this is the question. By having this Sasquatch out there they KNOW he can't be trusted to not take him down, it wouldn't matter if they sent him 50 memos. Basically they need to state clearly to him that if he takes out Stoner with another racing type incident that he return back to his camper, pack his things and pi55 off. This may just sink in.

MotoGP » Sepang II MotoGP test times - Tuesday 4pm

Looks like Stoner to me will romp away with the fastest time for all 3 days, Simmo has not been consistent all through testing though did set one lightning lap, he's being shown now that he will be No 4 Honda man, though will probably beat Dovi plenty of times in the races. Spies and Lorenzo look to be taking it pretty easy be interesting to see if they throw a fast one in before close of play. Ducati are still struggling based on time to me though it is a big improvement on their other first test day. If they can't beat their fastest time by day 2 they are in big trouble. I'd like to hear if they are trialling the new cf frame components Vito promised for this test.

Bodes well for next year though Ted, as Ducati have nowhere to hide now, VR has more political weight than any other rider by some margin. If they don't get their acts together it won't be Rossi that the fans target, it will be them. So a fair to good chance that they'll produce a decent bike. Maybe this is the sort of shake up the top brass there need.

cont'd "With that kind of tire it's very easy if you're not believing in the bike then you're not pushing, if you're not pushing then the temperature of the tire goes down and without the temperature the tire is not performing. If this is not happening then there is no way to be fast. This is something we know very well. If you are not confident with the front you are not pushing and therefore the lap time is not good." These comments alone I believe show Prezios's surprise that VR didn't produce faster times thus his need to qualify his statements. My amazement still lies in the fact that he expects his riders to basically go full blast with no feel in the front. In VR's defence how many riders would do this? no wonder other riders have struggled on this bike and it shows poor development by management in this area. Certainly explains CS binning it in the first round after slowing down while leading. As I have said before they have no choice now but to change how they do things

Ted, Just finished reading the Rainey article, pretty well balanced from a great past rider. Qualifies himself in pretty much all he says. He clearly acknowledges the threat that is Lorenzo and how much that has played on VR's psyche this year. Given pretty much his links with Yamaha, a good read. I suppose from reading on Ducati remain a mystery to him and many others in both development and culture. This statement by Filippo Preziosi: "So the fact that Karel (Abraham) has the same lap time as Valentino for me means something. So we have to find a way to have a bike that is easier to understand from the beginning for people who have lengthy experience of other bikes."

This is just an opinion Ted, but I believe this shows how good Stoner is to take a bike no one else can win on and make it happen. It appears that Ducati will now be forced to take more input from riders which will only benefit them. Shame they didn't do this before. It actually sounds a bit like Honda when they devalued the rider and said it was all about the bike.

Agree to a certain extent Ted, One things for sure is that they are deadly serious about 2011 by binning their superbike arm from the Ducati Corse S.r.l. a roughly 100 strong workforce that will now be virtually fully aimed at Motogp. Can't see them dumping the CF programme as it would be an admission of failure amongst many other reasons. Still think as to why other riders have all failed to come to grips with this bike, interesting comments from Melandri who I class a good rider who struggled with the Duc. He finished 2nd to Valentino Rossi in 2005, and scoring three victories in 2006. In 2008 he went to Ducati with much expected from him and came 17th. He had this to say on Ross's test: "Melandri said that he'd had exactly the same problems with the Ducati that Rossi had had during the Valencia test, but Ducati had not listened to his feedback." "Ducati merely replied that their bike had won a world title, and he would have to adapt his style"

Agree Ted, but Ducati are a pretty small concern compared to the big Jap manufacturers. Is 90 days approx enough to turn around a bike that has had major flaws since the introduction of the CF frame? They obviously won't throw this away in this space of time...so can they overcome it to make it rider friendly to all. The main problem that I see is that their is more give in a trellis chassis at an extreme lean angle when the suspension is no longer doing a job allowing for better feel. The stiffness and lack of feel are all properties of carbon fibre, it can be dialled into the weave of CF for flex but again in a defined parameter which is why I think Casey got it to work on certain tracks. It is obviously not adjustable to as many settings as a trllis chassis. By all the add on's like weights they were using on the front they had run out of settings.
