MotoGP » Rossi, Stoner joke about Jerez 2011

The mutual backslapping between them and kindly words were as good to witness as the race itself. However, the hatchet does not get buried in a twinkling of the eye. Scar Tissue. If the Rossi/Ducati combine get it togther with the new engine/electronics package etc by Laguna and the Honda/chatter/Bridgestone issue is resolved by Laguna and if Rossi gets into another dogfight with Stoner. Well, revisit this Le Mans moment in time with fond memories. This was a moment of 'weight off the shoulders' for both of them, not a permanent fix for the deep rooted antagonism that lurks beneath the surface. Neither was that moment a fix for backers of either rider.

MotoGP » Lorenzo: From fear to flawless

Spot On Jon Don. George is already in a great position to reclaim the title even against the rampant champion that is Casey. Just a thought. George is a year younger than Casey and I reckon he is planning on being in the game for a long old time. With Casey out of the way at the end of the year, I wonder how many titles George may wrap up before he retires.

MotoGP » Stoner: A weight off my shoulders

Judging by his race pace the weight off his shoulders following the announcement is compensating for weight lumbered on the HRC bike after Dorna pushed the idiotic ruling through. Where the hell is Ezpeleta's take on this anyway. Surely as CEO of Dorna sports he can go public with a statement. I guess his b*lls are still smarting. Stoner sure kicked them good and hard. As for CRT. Why is Petruci's Aprilia engined bike still 15km/hr slower than the ART bikes at a go cart track like Le Mans. Come on Aprilia, give the Italian something. The bloke is riding his nuts off and every race someting like 40km/hr deficit through the speed traps compared to prototypes and the usual 15 to 20 off other CRT bikes. Crikey ! At least give him one of Max's junked engines, they are way faster. Confusion. No wonder Casey timeously calls it a day.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner to retire from MotoGP!

Way to go mate. Retire with dignity and top of the pile in your prime. He's earned it. I have to wish him and his family all the best for the rest of the season. He's entertained me hugely over the GP1 years and won many a fan over the years with his humble and blunt approach to all things GP racing. Strictly business is Casey. Relax his throttle control for the rest of 2012 ?....forget it. :)

MotoGP » Rossi returns to scene of sole Ducati rostrum

Hope its a dry weekend and hope Rossi doesn't do a Simmo 2011. The Doctor, I think, could not be bothered. A podium by hook or by crook is what is required for his weekend. The bubbly spurted over a year back on his resume'. The most feared rider on the planet indeed. No wonder George,Casey and Dani will focus on the usual. Establish the rythm, qualify up front and clear out ASAP. General idea is to beat your team mate and winning the race is a bonus.

MotoGP » Ducati: Full upgrade package for Laguna Seca

BrianC,The GPC and Dorna in particular lost the plot when they elected to go to 1000cc. Kawasaki and Suzuki pulled out because the rules were in a constant state of flux and uncertainty, thus causing spiralling costs. Aprilia and BMW elected to remain in the shadows for the same reason. So here we have it as many of us predicted. 1000CC is just the same as 800cc, but hugely more costly. Having to accommodate CRT and blah. The good news is that history generally repeats itself and MotoGP will still be around long after Stoner and Rossi have called it a day.

MotoGP » Ducati: Full upgrade package for Laguna Seca

MD Zane. A bit of a merry go round. Give Rossi this and that and top speed won't be an issue. Top speed was his big gripe back in 2007 while he enjoyed corner entry, corner speed and stable exit. Why bother anyway ? Give him cake and cookies,he's had his run at the top. Give him Stoner's chattery HRC bike and give Stoner, Petruci's IODA CRT bike and Stoner will not be lapped by Rossi. More likely,Rossi will demand HRC give him a bike that suits his style. No wonder Nakamoto ruled the possibility out. He's got 2 superior pilots at half price.

MotoGP » Ducati: Full upgrade package for Laguna Seca

Sounds like 2011 revisited at Ducati. Rossi's frustration with the bike is becomming Prezios's frustration with the rider. Felipo almost sounds resigned to the inevitable. We will give him a softer, smoother, torqueier mill and sacrifce some top end power. Oh dear, then Rossi will be moaning that the bike is too slow compared to Honda and Yamaha at the top end. Catch 22. You can't have your cake and eat it. Okay, the jury is out until Laguna Seca.

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi responds to retirement claim

No matter what,he does or does not achieve during his extended Ducati learning curve and no matter what they supply him with he will not retire as long as he has a full factory prototype at his disposal, thus perpetuating the +30 continuation of the GP1 bottleneck. No, he will not retire anytime soon even should 2012 prove more dismal than 2011 for him and Ducati. European and Audi/Ducati/Philip Morris economics may have a say however.
