MotoGP » Rossi rues time lost on opening laps

Another podiom well done. Rossi has spent most of his career riding with his heart on his sleeve and established boundaries of sportsmanship, in his quest for victory. At 35 there is hardly a more respected and inspiring motorcycle rider in the sport. Where he once refused to entertain the thought of defeat (much like MM now), he now looks forward to just being able to be at the pointy end and compete. Rossi has chosen to carry on for a few more years and risk defeat, on the small chance he may be able to snatch some more victories. He is to be commended for the way in which he fights on. Takes ball$ to front up week after week, knowing you are not as good as you once were. To be in the wilderness (with Ducati) for those years, and be involved in an accident that claimed your childhood friend, would have seen a lot of riders give up the ghost. But for Rossi and his love of racing, he overcame those obsticals, and for me and I'm sure millions of others, we are gratefull. Go Rossi.

MotoGP » Pedrosa: No answer to Marquez and Lorenzo

alol: And VonS the only time Dani has beaten JL over a season was 08 (in Jorge's rookie season). Since then JL has owned him.
Points don't tell the full story. Think back to 2012: for the last half of that season Dani was the better rider. In that year Dani took more 1st places that Jorge. And if you do want to talk points then I guess Dani is "owning" Lorenzo for this season. Will that remain til the end of the season ? Looking likely I'd say. So if Dani finishes 2nd in the standings at the season's end, does that make him a "not very good wingman" ?
Since when has the term "wingman" been written into contracts. The term has only been bought into vogue by the Pedrosa supporters as far as I can see. Anyway Rossi has narrowed the gap to 2nd in the title chase.

I used the term "wingman" because it was used earlier in the thread by another poster. Hence the inverted commas ! I agree with your point: they are all competitors in their own right and each is looking to beat the other. Yep, VR has surely closed the gap at this point for 2nd.....could be a close run thing by the season's end.
Yeah I know it's been used for a while now. Not having a shot at you for using the term, just having a shot for reasons you just stated. Cheers.

MotoGP » Rossi: Saturday morning will be crucial

therealDave: @ Paul, Only top 10 go through automatically so Jlo is also in strife but rates no mention in your post? Is that because you don't expect anything from Jlo? Is that because Jlo wouldn't be embarrassed? Or is it because you are simply slagging off for no good reason? Sorry, my mistake, this is a rossi thread. I will go look for your same post on Jlo's thread....
When the 3 of them beat MM last race, Paul praised JL and DP, no mention of Rossi. That answer it for you Dave. Cheers.

MotoGP » Marc Marquez: King of the kerb

Grendlehop: @Jimmytherealone, You prob meant Vale, who personified the definition of prodigy. Until Marc defends his title successfully this year and the next, then switches to another manufacturer and defends his title 2 more times making 5 in a row, he's still going to remain Vale's shadow. Marc IS however clearly at a level Casey could never achieve.
Nothing more to add here, you summed it up nicely. Well put.

MotoGP » Rossi ‘closer to goal’ heading to Silverstone

shamarone: re: "It looked to me like MM's steamroller was stopped not by any change in his riding, but in him lacking grip at Brno. His bike looked unsettled and struggling to turn in and hold a line (relatively, it still wasn't a Ducati), and also on corner exit." 1 word... settings. re: "Weirdly, DP's bike was great, when previously he seemed to have grip issues elsewhere like MM had at Brno." hey, how about that. what are the odds that Dan's kit would suddenly be SPOT ON at the EXACT moment that Marcus' went pear shaped...? 1 in a million...? 1 in 10 million...? I know one thing, if someone named Dani Ramal had taken themselves and a boat load of cash to the Roulette wheel that evening, they'd be retired. in all my years of watching racing, I personally can't recall a single instance of luck like that...? just sayin'.
I can. 1998 WSBK. Aaron Slights Honda blew up (honda's never did that) while leading and cost him a World title. Bad luck right
