MotoGP » Kevin Schwantz: Attack at every opportunity

I think Schwantz needs to climb off his high horse, he was brilliant but he wasn't Rainey who would've won in 1993 as well hadn't he had his tragic accident. Up until round 9 in 1993 Schwantz had not finished off the podium, and had clocked up 4 wins to Rainey's 3. Rainey finished off the podium twice. Round 10 was when Doohan acted like a human bowling ball, and took out Schwantz and several others. This allowed Rainey to finish 2nd and narrow the huge gap Schwantz had over Rainey. So up until Rainey's accident Schwantz was the man to beat, and a lot of people stated Rainey was riding beyond normal because of this. Very sad (and unfounded) of you to make the above statement.

MotoGP » Kevin Schwantz: Attack at every opportunity

jimsingstuesdays: It's a long time ago and I don't suppose any of you were around then but didn't KS announce his retirement at an emotional press conference where among other things he said that he couldn't take the injuries any more?. Anyone else remember that?
To add to that, I think the deciding factor was indepth discussion on a plane ride with Rainey. The enjoyment had gone out of racing due to injuries and Wayne's accident. Also no enjoyment racing against Doohan. He was robotic in how he raced.
