WSBK » Rea edges Haslam to take first Thai WSBK pole

Great to see Rea doing so well, I was confident pre-season that he could at least match Sykes despite the Kawasaki being his bike and it being his team, and so far he's comfortably on top in that team. Great that his superb efforts on the outdated Honda are being rewarded now - Guintoli and van der Mark's relative struggles on the Honda back up the view that Rea has been possibly the best WSBK rider in recent years.

WSBK » van der Mark ‘really proud’ of first Superbike podiums

Fantastic for Ten Kate at the Dutch fans to have one of their own to cheer on. I'm sure Guintoli will get closer, but clearly he's taken longer to adapt from a much better bike, whereas VdM has gone in without expectations, worked hard and let his natural talent shine through. Rea's performances against Sykes so that this year suggest that the Honda has not been competitive in recent years, and it's again had little improvement over this winter. Who knows how far Michael can go - future MotoGP race winner perhaps?

WSBK » Downbeat Sykes admits to Kawasaki struggles

We can't read too much after two circuits - one brand new and one never Tom's strongest - but I'm not surprised Rea has come into the team and given him such a stern test. With Aprillia scaling back, Ducati's many early-season crashes and Honda with two new riders, you have to feel that Kawasaki need to build a lead early in the season, and only one rider looks like doing that.

F1 » Nasr irked by ‘pay driver’ assumption

The runner-up in GP2 should be getting an F1 drive on merit, but sadly the sport's economics are in such a mess that he needs to rely on sponsors to get there (and last year's GP2 champion can't get a drive at all). I guess he's a mixture of money and merit, but if he can put a decent season together he might find himself ina paid drive with a decent team in 2016 or beyond.

F1 » Hamilton romps to Australian Grand Prix win

Cars that can't be turned on, cars that can't complete an installation lap, trained lawyers signing three drivers to watertight contracts when they only run 2 cars, wheels that don't come off or go on properly, minor or non-incidents eliminating two top drivers from the meeting, cars a 17-year-old can drive almost as well as a veteran, rules designed to hinder the new manufacturer set up at the insistence of the biggest supplier. In general, a complete fiasco, a snooze, and a waste of everyone's time and money.
