I'd take Baz over Camier given the choice. Leon had an easy ride to the BSB title and then four years of midfield anonymity in WSBK - even Cluzel beat him on the same bike last year. Baz has given Sykes a decent run for his money at times despite coming onto the bike midseason under awful circumstances. Interested in the technical side of Baz's comment that it's the size of your body and limbs that make all the difference, can anyone who's more clued-up about the practicalities of riding comment on this?

This allegation that Bianchi passed a green flag before the crash is provably false, and so sad that it's spread through disreputable media with no appreciation of our sport to the point that people believe it. The green flag was clearly after the incident site, standard procedure to tell drivers that the previous yellow flag zone is over. Automatic safety car when a tractor is out under wet conditions might be a useful change now, but everything else needs more research and thought. We've had three marshalling deaths since the last F1 driver fatality, and these guys are unpaid helpers without whom we could not have racing, and yet drivers occasionally don't think about them when they see flags.

Modifications to the safety vehicles are worth looking into, it'd be expensive and a big research project but something most be possible. Beyond that, enforcing double-waved yellows properly would be a start. Drivers never sped through those sections when the risk of injury from a crash was more like 1/8 than 1/800, as Max Moseley noted. We've had three fatalities involving marshals since Senna died, these guys are unpaid volunteers without whom we couldn't have racing, and the drivers are risking their lives every time they fail to slow in a yellow flag zone, especially in the wet. Slightly sad that we're only looking at the implications now that it's a driver who's been hurt.

The regulations are clearly at fault here - as are Aspar for reneging on a promise seemingly just because what they feel to be a better rider has come along. No reason why the sport has to be dominated by riders of a [particular size or shape - WSBK regs seem much more equal on this. NBA has players under 6' and players over 6", Soccer has goalkeepers of 6'7 and wingers of well under 5'7. The 5'10 Kei Nishikora gave the 6'6 Marin Cilic a run for his money in the US Open tennis final this year. Incidentally, I'm 5'6 myself....
