MotoGP » Gardner: 'Big mistake' to write off Rossi

"I think there's a good chance Vale now has an even higher regard for Casey's ability" or it could be he's already come to the conclusion that while he might well in many ways be impressed at how CS managed to ride the Duc so well, he's laughing at how CS has had the bike and the full attention of the Ducati mechanics for 4+ years still the bike is a pig to ride fast. In other words he'll probably know now that Casy is not very good at translating what needs to be done to effect change X into a language designers and mechanics can implement. For example the shenanigans with the so called "front end" this year in which they tried everything to fix it and failed which to be suggests Casey guessed wrong as to what was needed or was too proud to admit he tried to use 101% of the grip available which on all bikes equals a low side.

Will he bollox match Rossi. Much as I like Nicky there's little chance he'll out perform Rossi next year. With Rossi's analysis of the current Ducati and JB getting upto speed with the way the rest of Ducati work, in 3 months or so those who have been kidding themselves Rossi (15th in testing) is slow will realise there was a fair amount of sandbagging going on coupled with JB getting upto speed with learning how to set the bike up in response to Rossi's feedback. All other riders engineers knew the bikes they were working on inside out, JB didn't

F1 » Red Bull still favourite, urges Korean winner Alonso

Just found this pre-Bahrain race report on planetf1 "Ferrari made a precautionary engine change to both Massa and Alonso's cars after spotting "abnormalities" in the telemetry" So maybe the engines are good afterall but there still must be some question mark over them unless Ferrari pulled them purely to make the other contenders think Ferrari were already on the back foot as far as engines go.

F1 » Nothing out-of-reach, says 'racer' Hamilton – we can still do it!

5 seconds a lap near the end when it was obvious Alonso was fast with good tyres is common sense given the lead he had over 3rd place. Not much of a fan of FA's attitude but he did drive well today as did LH, but it has to be noted that DNF's throughout a season are playing a big part in the standings. So far LH=3, JB=2, SV=3, MW=2 and FA=1 so its no surprise whose leading. Now that Alonso has used all his engines at least once, I'm hoping the DNF playing field levels out a bit more

F1 » FIA makes road offence proposal

If this rule was added then I can see increased odds of non-Ferrari drivers being targeted by Italian traffic police in the run up to Italian races. Of course this could be offset partly if the UK & other host countries police forces kept a close eye out for minor highway code transgressions by Spanish drivers although I think its fair to say the Italians might be better at this game. in other words its a stupid idea open underhand tricks which is why it sounds like FIA might well adopt it
