F1 » Vote for your Racer of the Year 2011!

@Taipan Yep Nuvolari was one of Murray Walkers all time greats too. I think it was him who used to stand up in the car and taunt the other competitors as he passed them and a riding mechanic once told that Nuvo said he would scream when he took a corner too fast. He huddled in his seat to protect himself as Nuvo started screaming at the first corner and didn't stop till the last one. They don't make em like Tazio anymore.

F1 » Vote for your F1 Driver of the Year!

I agree that Seb, Jenson and Ferdi are the stand out top 3 I would also put Mark and Michael joint 4th. Mark for getting his head down in the face of adversity unlike Lewis despite his 3 wins was very poor overall, and Mike for me was the most improved driver of the season although I'm still not a fan of his. He seemed to be dialled into the Merc much better this seaseon and was much closer to Nico. If Seb wasn't there people would have said this was a really great season instead of boring but Newey has always designed great cars to which Mansell, Prost, Villenueve, Hakkinen and now Seb can attest.

F1 » BBC boss to face MPs over F1 television deal

I agree completly with everything said, this is a fudge that'll not change anything @thetruth, you'll find that the Beeb is legaly obligated to show X amount of hours for each type of programme. So a programme like Songs of Praise would never face the axe, and since ITV is cutting back on its public service broadcasting, more of that falls to the BBC and to a lesser extent Channel 4 (it is 51% state owned). But your right, this decision smells like a week dead cat.

NASCAR » Johnson calls for end to ovals in IndyCar

Sorry Ian, but that is not the only solution either. This sensless tragedy should not have happened. If F1 did a circuit like that it would have been limited to 18 cars tops. Most US tracks and cars would not be allowed to race on a FIA category. F1 cars go through extremely stringent crash tests and speeds are and engine r.p.m. restricted, the IRL cars would be condemmed as death traps. Sorry but that many cars at that poor safety standard including the track garenteed this disaster. Maybe it's time for the US series to sign up to the FIA international standard before more tragedies happen.

F1 » Vettel wins F1 2011 Italian GP

@ DW Also the wet race you mention it was Mark Webber that Seb hit, Lewis was ahead of both of them. A good race though it was a shame macca's duo messed it up themselves. Fights all the way down the field, hard but mostly fair including mike n lewis. Pushing the limit but not quite going over and I'm not really a fan of either driver, one flawed the other too immature.

I hear you norville, but Charlie Whiting can warn the teams if he thinks appropriate and that is probably what happend here. Lewis by his own admission is performing very badly this year, but I'd argue he has courted too much controversy over the last 3 years! Both macca drivers messed up otherwise the result would have been closer but Button is a better man than Hammy ever will be.

@norville The conspiracy theories are back then, even Eddie Jordan batted that comment away though I do have some sympathy with your comment. Mikey was pushing the limit too much, a man that once berated Damon Hill for the same thing at Canada in 98. But the stewards were probably satisfied that Brawn dealt with it when he did.

F1 » Heidfeld set to fight Renault exit

Andrew I agree with your sentiment in wishing Senna well, but I can't see him doing any better than either Nick or Vitaly. As others have said, this team has gone right down the tubes and without car performance how can the management expect the drivers to perform? That said though, Nick always seems to get all the bad luck.

F1 » Hamilton wins three-way battle at the 'Ring

Great race from all the top 3. Webber was a little unlucky with traffic maybe and definitely screwed by poor strategy for the third stop. Seb got lucky at the end with Massa and forth place though I am glad he didn't get a podium as it is getting too monotonous with him. Hopefully now Ferrari and mclaren can push RBR for the rest of the season.
