WSBK » EBR set for pre-Aragon WSBK test

toot:as for the buells that ran against the 600s here in the states they were powered by air cooled pushrod harley moters
Sorry toot but you are mistaken. Danny Eslick won the 2009 AMA Daytona SportBike championship on a Buell 1125R, which used a water cooled engine made by Rotax. The other bikes in that class were 600's. You can google "danny eslick buell championship" for verification and more information on the topic.

WSBK » EBR set for pre-Aragon WSBK test

shamarone:sadly, add timk's name to the list of those who've lost the plot.
Just because a race fan believes racing is at least in part about racing, rather than subscribing to your sadly jaded theory that tv time for sponsors while getting lapped is as valuable as tv time for sponsors while getting on the podium, does not mean they have lost the plot. I suppose you actually believe that if you asked Yates or May or Mr. Buell himself if they are satisfied with getting lapped as long as viewers see the Hero logo, they would answer that yes they're satisfied and that everyone who thinks racing is about finishing ahead of your competition has lost the plot. I believe they would answer differently. I cannot imagine how someone who subscribes to your "plot" can even enjoy watching racing.

WSBK » EBR set for pre-Aragon WSBK test

bikenutter: They hold their own in AMA and the bike in 600cc is totally different...
If by "hold their own" you mean run 2.5 seconds a lap slower than the leaders. (I just looked at the results of the Daytona Superbike race, where the EBR's best lap time was 1:40.3 while two Yosh Suzukis turned 1:37.8's.) Even though you're right about this model being different than the Buell which was allowed to race against 600's, that's exactly what it would take for Eric's latest generation boat anchors to win a race. They will never even get near a podium against other liter class bikes.

WSBK » Phillip Island - Official test times [Combined]

An EBR update from another site provides this bit of data: "Marco Melandri's Aprilia was fastest on the gun today at Phillip Island at 199 mph while EBR rider Geoff May was clocked at 174 mph and Yates' reading was 169 mph." Yeah, I don't think more development time or better riders is going to bridge that gap. These new Buell racebikes, like all that came before them, are simply not up to the task.

JimmyTheRealOne: What's wrong with the EBR bikes? Wake up guys, you're not in AMA anymore :-P
The same thing that is always wrong with them -- they're dogs. The fans of the marque have the biggest excuse book in racing, but the fact is that the only time a Buell has ever won anything was when the AMA allowed them to race their literbikes against everyone else's 600's. And even then they didn't dominate -- they just barely won. You will never see an EBR on a WSBK podium.

MotoGP » Valencia Moto2 test times - Tuesday

I'm a little worried about Herrin with his teammate so much farther up the order
In an interview on 'soup Josh mentioned that because of how easy it is to crash in the cold (which Zarco did) he was taking it easy today while learning the track, and team manager Stiggy said his goal for Josh for today was a low 38 which he did. It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow and I expect we'll see Josh move up the order a bit. Too early to be worried IMO.

WSBK » Erik Buell Racing confirms WSBK entry

While I am glad to see any new addition to the grid, the prediction that these bikes might be competitive is just wide eyed hope from the true believers (of which Buell has always had a religious cult following). They couldn't even get close to the front of the AMA superbike races, and will be even farther back in wsbk. As for the 2009 "championship" they won in the AMA -- that was against 600s! Yes, the AMA was so desperate to have a front-running American-made motorcycle that they allowed Buell to race against bikes with half the displacement. Against the current crop of wsbk contenders these EBR machines are going to be as competitive as PBM's motogp effort..
