MotoGP » POLL: Who will win the 2015 Qatar MotoGP?

JedPB67 ..Dovi is certainly not a shoe-in for the win, but definitely in with a shout. A brand new bike which he and his team are still learning. He may not have completed long runs but not many riders did. Dovi was putting in 55s ad 56s all day from his first flying lap onwards. If he Quallies on the front row and gets a good start he could well finish on the top step.

Some people are very reluctant to offer any praise at all to Dovi. Here is a (probably vain) attempt to show why I think he deserves it. His finish positions in the Championship :- 2008...5th 2009...6th (beaten by a single point) 2010...5th (4th was Casey) 2011...3rd (4th was Dani) 2012...4th (3rd was Casey) 2013...8th (Ducati wasn't competitive) 2014...5th (Ducati wasn't competitive) As far as I'm concerned the guy always gets his bike higher than anyone else could. As to whether he can fight ? Ask Nicky and ask Cal)

Marquez is saying that if Qatar was tomorrow then Ducati could win, and he thinks that Dovi would be the one riding it. Rossi (and Jorge) are saying that the Ducati is now competitive and no longer need the extra soft tyre. VKal thinks the opposite. I wonder who is right ?? Does anyone know......is the swingarm now NOT pivoting on the engine cases ?? That was reckoned to be the sticking point on curing the inherent understeer problem. I'm guessing that now that the bike turns, the tyres will last a bit longer in the race.

It amuses me that there is uproar from some quarters about Ducati going over to Aluminium Frames, while the change to a Carbon Fibre Frame was accepted as OK. The truth is that nobody can make Trellis Frames where any two frames give identical results out on the track. So Ducati tried Carbon Fibre. Too difficult and too expensive to make any changes, so they went to Aluminium because it is proven to work. Praise should be given to Ducati for catching up on the technology so quickly. Winning is more important to any Manufacturer than introducing radical designs that do not work.
