MotoGP » Dall'Igna: New engine ‘first step’ for 2015 Ducati

cossiegaz....Cut Dovi a bit of slack will you ? The records will always show that in 2011 the 3rd man was Dovi, ahead of Dani the #1 rider. He achieved 8 podiums and when you consider the top step was unavailable most of the year and he was on the 3rd string bike, he performed very well. Dovi was in Honda's bad books too that year, that must have affected his bike allocation as well.

The guy with the funny beard has a major problem sorting out the geometry of the frame/engine layout. If he sorts that out with a redesigned engine the bike will improve. As well as Stoner, JB also said that the CF frame wasn't the problem (other than time and money needed to make changes.) so we might even see a return to that material, but I doubt it. Lastly, I am surprised that Casey's fans make so much of his 2007 performance. His Honda Title was much more impressive.

Here we go again, the circular argument on Rossi/Stoner. Facts that both sides forget (on purpose ? ) are that in 2007 the bike had by far the most powerful engine, acceleration was it's forte. The magic that Casey had above all was supreme courage, and he worked out that steering with the rear overcame the inherent understeer. Once the electronics and the reduction in outright power (Ducati's effort to make the bike more controllable) stopped him doing that, his results went on a downward spiral. He has since stated that in 2007 he was able to slow the others down in the twisty bits and use the bikes power on the straights. A sound strategy that worked very well. Yamaha and Honda have since caught up and Ducati have no advantage left (not even soft tyres get them near the front.) Dovi id doing OK. No rider could do better. Marc would crash it more than Casey, Nicky, and Rossi did.
