F1 » Strong Spa showing boosts Massa's hopes for 2013

Contd If Ferrari have any ambition of winning the constructors title he must go. I understand they have a very close relationship with him and have had many ups and downs but the bad results has gone on too long now. Felipe has proven to be a very quick driver in his day but post accident he looks to have lost his edge but he can still retire with his head held high or perhaps secure a mid grid drive if that is his wish. I'd like to see Perez in the Fezza and Massa has historical ties with Sauber so that swap may be perfect.

There is absolutely no way he should be kept on. Since when does finishing 5th for Ferrari 'change anything' regarding a drivers future? If he were a championship challenging driver which everyone driving for maranello should be that would have been a solid, non-catostrophic result and all he would've been talking about was producing a better result for the next race. Instead it was a 'great race' and 'good result'. I understand that taken in isolation a 14th to 5th drive sounds quite good but that represents his second best result of the season. The fact remains though that this is a season in which his teammate has won more races than any other driver and is top of the standings with 164 points while Felipe has only 35. Felipes not even taken a podium in the Ferrari (Alonso has 6) whereas Williams have won this season and Sauber have multiple podiums. Even Hulk in the Force India has equalled Massas best result and is only 4 points behind him in the standings. If Ferrari have any a

@CRT Woah hold your horses. I don't think I've ever seen anyone suggest that he could hang with the Aliens. I do however think he is one of the top 6 or 7 riders in moto2. No he hasn't won a championship but in his last season in 125s it is well documented that he wasn't getting a bike that could compete with Terol. He was however beaten convincingly by Simon. Herve Poncheral is no mug so if he thinks he's good enough to be given a Moto Gp ride I'm inclined to believe him until proven otherwise. He certainly has accomplished more than Abraham who admittedly bought his seat but he has done ok in Gp, not great but ok, so why not Brad?

@CRT Actually you have it the wrong way about. Everyone having the same spec engine helps calculate the 'worth' of a moto 2 bike. Top speed is then most heavily influenced by aero and the ability of the bike to get traction out of the corners. If you had non-spec engines poor bikes could still have the same top speed as others if there engine had slightly more grunt. Reading the top speed stat would then not give as much insight as it would not reflect that the bike was slower in the corners as a result of the factors mentioned above. It's simple really - reducing the number of variables makes for a better comparison. Equally looking at multiple pieces of data helps comparisons - data like the tech 3s times in the twisty sections as mentioned by other posters.

MotoGP » Solid practice form by sore Lorenzo

Dani winning here uncontested? If I remember rightly, last year was an all out 3-way brawl all race with Dani not making the break 'till there was about 2 laps left. As for the Lorenzo engine scenario I am sympathetic but there is no way he should be given another engine. Hard cases do not make good rules. If they brought in a rule where you could get engines back if they blew up, even if outwith your control or with putting the same number of miles the original was on onto the new engine the teams would find a way to exploit the rule.

F1 » Refund offered if Hamilton fails to win

If bettings such as mugs game how come i put 10 quid in my betfair account 2 years ago, have taken 100 quid out and still have 30 quid in it? When it comes to motorsport the bookies tend not to be that clued up. For example there was massive odds on Alonso to win silverstone last year so when the special one off Ferrari rules came into play that weekend it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Admittedly I have had to learn the hard way to stay away from football betting as it appears I'm naff at it. If you want another, more recent example for the motogp at assen last weekend if you had put 11 quid on Lorenzo, 5 on Stoner, 3 on Pedrosa and 2 on Spies you were guaranteed to win at least 2quid with a possible return of about 5.50. Doesn't sound like much? Well consider that since 2007 there has only been what, 2 other winners? Both in the wet and neither replicating the feat. All I'm saying is if you don't go betting a months salary and do your research, you can make a little money and

MotoGP » 'Tired' Pedrosa feels wrong strategy cost him dear

For me he's only had a bike capable of winning the title in 2 of the last 6 years. His rookie year and last year when he got injured. When you look at this year though he should have been winning races before the tyre change and he hasn't delivered. After today I'm actually wondering if he'll win a race this year - something I'm surprised to be thinking - and if he doesn't win at sachsenring (where he's sh*t hot) that may become a possibility. I was really hoping Lorenzo went to Honda as I think a Yamaha ride would have been Pedrosas best chance of a title with the high corner speed bike suiting his style. With Lorenzo re-signing though that chance is gone - probably forever. I see him wiping the floor with Marquez next year but still not keeping his ride for 2014 - Honda not wanting 2 Spaniards in there team for more than 1 season. (They have a history of not switching both riders at once.) At risk of looking too far into the future I see him on a tech 3 or factory suzuki in 2014.
