F1 » Blame Ferrari for double points – Ecclestone

I am totally against any races being given a greater points weighting than any other. However if they insist on going down this path in order to keep the championship alive as long as possible, I would suggest that they give the last 6 races of the season an added 50% points weighting (which would mitigate and hopefully average out any potential unfairness caused by mishaps) rather than sticking with the gimmick of double points for the last race alone.

Sunny, That idea of Horners to give double points for the last 3 races is almost as bad as double points for the last race. I really hope they don't go with that idea either. As I say above, if they are going to stuff up F1's standing as the ultimate measure of a motor racing team and driver by giving extra points for races won at the end of the season, at least do it in a more moderated fashion by giving say an extra 50% points weighting over the last 6 races. I could almost live with that, even though I will still feel sick at the idea that some empty boring desert race attracts more championship points than Spa, Monza, Silverstone or Monaco.
