F1 » Vergne eyes 2016 Ferrari race seat

richard: JEV certainly deserves a seat in a top team. he is well placed now to take over from kimi at the end of 2015, and he would be a lot cheaper than kimi. interesting that ferrari could then have two red bull proteges.
I agree with your comment, but must point out that this time last year you said neither DR nor JEV were good enough for the Red Bull senior team.

Rich, I agree you can only compare drivers when they have the same equipment. However, in my view that does not mean you can prognosticate that JEV would have handled being in a front end contender team as well as DR has done this last year. The only way that can be known is by putting him in such a drive, which I agree he deserves.

Rich, I accept your explanation, and perhaps my original comment went too far. I did say I agreed with your original comment on this thread re JEV. I myself have said that JEV and DR were very closely matched when they drove together. I have also said that JEV seems to be very unlucky when you consider what has happened in DRs career since. Everything Taipan has said above is absolutely correct. However, the fact is that since Red Bull made their choice to promote DR, he has shown he can handle the pressure of the front end of the F1 field, keep his cool, and win Grands Prix, whereas for JEV that remains an unknown. There must have been something about JEV that led to him being twice passed over. What a driver brings to a team is presumably best assessed and understood by the team, rather than we key board warriors. I expect that DK will be a formidable challenge for DR this year and DR may feel more pressure than he did last year because now there are greater team expectations.

F1 » Vettel ‘will bring things to Ferrari we rather he didn’t’

Taipan: Ah so that's how fanboys decide to agree or disagree with a comment, they just look at the user name and if it's not one of "theirs" they hit disagree regardless of the content? I always suspected that but thanks for confirming it Sweaty.
ty. have you only worked that one out now? now you know that my figures show that i have the most attraction to the fanboys!
Rich, how do you explain Taipan's popularity, if your theory about your own lack thereof is true?

F1 » Booth: Manor has two weeks to make 2015 F1 grid

richard: elwood. unfortunately lithium is not in abundant supply, and the source of it is in china! yes, it has come down in price but is still highly expensive, and if china decided to cut off supply, there would be a world wide problem. tesla cars and nissan leafs would grind to a halt, boeings dreamliner would be unable to fly etc etc
The worlds biggest lithium mines are in Western Australia, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia.
