F1 » Vettel full of praise for Mercedes

I have a lot of admiration for Seb as a driver, but some people are getting carried away with the praise. It is not that hard to come out and say magnanimous things about others when you feel personally pumped up having just succeeded in driving through the field from 15th to 4th. But those who are suggesting that he is one of nature's true gentlemen need only remind themselves of how he responded to the Multi 21 direction and the recent team direction to move over and let Daniel through.

F1 » Horner: Red Bull has closed the gap

I think 6 tenths may be about right. it is almost 40 seconds for the 66 laps. Ricciardo had to drop back because he couldn't get past Bottas due to lack of top speed but was clearly being held back by him. He changed tyres early to jump Bottas but then did an extra long second stint to convert to a two stop strategy which meant he drove very conservatively to look after the tyres. He really had no one to race and was just in preservation mode. The two Mercs, on the other hand, were in fact racing each other the whole way albeit on different strategies.

F1 » Hamilton takes title lead after easy Mercedes one-two

It is true there have been periods of outright dominance in F1 in the past by certain teams, but at least when you went to the track you still experienced that body penetrating scream that added to the sheer excitement of the experience. Now we are watching a pack of safe fart cans burbling around the track in a fairly predictable order at speeds somewhat slower than in years past. Not much to inspire the new generation of fans. Dare I say it, America's Cup racing is looking more exciting and more dangerous than F1 at the moment. I can't believe I just said that.

F1 » Six of the Best: Fernando Alonso wins

jesse: @Googolplex: Very hard to pass? why did he not stop Rosberg in China? In other words any time he did whatever you mention, his car (foremost) and the pursuing cars allowed it. Not the 6 tenths. Remember had he got those 6 tenths Massa would not have been humiliated on live TV. Jesse, I would suggest that given the utter dominance of the Mercs, he would have had to have broken just about every rule to prevent Rosberg sailing on through.
