F1 » Ecclestone: ‘No point’ F1 targeting young fans

richard: objective. yes, but in those days you became a fan of f1! nowadays, a lot of the new viewers are more influenced by media hype and thus their only reason for watching is to idolise a particular driver. there are many more astute young followers and these are the ones who should be encouraged. true devotees of motor sports usually are those who will take a personal interest in the cars etc. and will actually involve themselves in the sport by joining motor clubs and then attend races to help , possibly learning about marshalling and hopefully actually trying out one of the branches of the sport, be it club racing, rallying, autotests etc
What a prescriptive load of tripe. Any person who is passionate about F1 is good for the sport. Stop being so sanctimonious about what virtues are required to be a worth while F1 fan.

F1 » Alonso: I can choose where I want to go

I obviously lack imagination, but if he is not going to McLaren then I'd suggest he's going to be taking a forced sabbatical. Then again maybe he has done something completely unexpected like teamed up with Santanda to buy Toro Rosso off Mateschitz (which DM has made no secret is for sale at the right price). That could explain why RBR were so quick to promote Kvyat out of TR and why TR have still not announced a second driver. These are just the ponderings of someone with nothing better to do.
