MotoGP » Rossi: There was something wrong

Ageing is part of life, do people expect a sportsperson to be at their peak of powers all the time? Rossi is now competing against a third generation rider in Marc at age of 35 in his 19th consecutive in motorcycle racing. I think he's doing pretty well. Its not Rossi's fault competition when he broke through was inferior to the current climate, they very same way it was not Roger Federer fault in tennis when he was beating Agassi, Hewitt, Rod**** and Safin. The only common factor between these two legends is whenever a younger generation has thrown a challenge at them, they have come back winning championships and grand slams. That's they very reason both are so highly thought of and often mentioned as GOAT in their respective sport.

MotoGP » Rossi: There was something wrong

Why do people forget Rossi won races, championships, poles, fastest laps DURING the era of Lorenzo, Stoner and Pedrosa. Even if he had an inferior competition in the past, he has more than enough stuck with the 'better crop'. Afterall he's won 2 world championships which is the same as his competition can show for (JLo, Stoner, Marquez). He has competed through different generations and is still amongst the front runners. @Brian I thought you were a sensible poster but clearly your dislike for Rossi is more evident here every passing day. Rossi finished 4th overall last year but his pace was lacking compared to leaders, this year its not. Its not that hard to grasp! BTW what the hell is a 'gift win'?

Brain: And that is my contention, that Rossi is not someone to put on a pedestal and declared the greatest of all time like his followers have a tendency to do. You said it yourself, he has kind of stuck with the better crop.
What? Can't you realize any sports person has a limited time frame where they are their peak and it tends to be at most 10 years in which Rossi was the most dominant. He hasn't 'kind of stuck', he has won world championships while competing against your Stoner, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and at the end that's the only thing that counts.
During their time in Moto GP together, Stoner had better numbers, Lorenzo has better numbers. Dani has comparable numbers.
Numbers? Only important number which speaks the loudest is the number of championship won and none of them have more than 2. Exactly the amount Rossi has won during your Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo era.

Brain: Wins Rossi 27 Pedrosa 25 Podiums Rossi 71 Pedrosa 90 Poles Rossi 19 Pedrosa 27
Number of championship won in Premier Class Rossi 2 Pedrosa 0 For better viewing I only counted the years since Pedrosa entered into premier class. Bah! Trust me, if I started pulling Rossi's stats you'll look very very silly. You've been (nicely) warned.

MotoGP » ‘Bump under braking’ ends Pedrosa pole hopes

V4Poweeeer: Didn't Stoner crash at turn twelve when he was battling for the here in 2012 with Dani.
Yes he did, he binned it trying to chase Dani who put fastest lap of the race on the final lap. On Marquez, he is just phenomenal. Hope people can enjoy him more. He broke pole record which was set on QF tires. Scary to imagine what he could do with soft tires. Race will be close tomorrow, Dani is always quick around here. Hopefully we can see a different winner for a change but I doubt.
