MotoGP » ‘Super Sic’ fastest as Honda sweeps Sepang

"Really? ...seen plenty of people slide the 990's both live and in pictures ...but Rossi sliding the 500 around this(or any other)corner? ....you had better post up the address to where we can see these pictures" Posted by monster Ahh... Doohan, McCoy, Scwantz, Rossi..... the list goes on. But Stoner has to be the best drifter of the 800 era. Watching the onboard shots from the bike following him when he lights up the rear is just crazy!

MotoGP » Stoner: Small mistake, big crash, happy ending

“We haven't touched the settings at all on our bike," It is hard to believe that over three days Stoner never came in and said - two clicks more rebound on the rear shock or some other similar easy suspension change request that I would describe as changing the settings. The telemetry would also guide his crew to a need for these changes. Posted by rick65 Rick, Stoner isn't there to set up his bike, he's there to test parts. The number one rule when testing new parts is to never touch any settings as this would provide inaccurate results. HRC have been VERY methodical with their testing schedule this test. Bike set up gets done on race weekends, not development tests.

MotoGP » Valentino Rossi just a few tenths away?

@Fan, I'm not defending Stoner as there's nothing to defend. If you read my later post you would have seen that I have credited Sic. He's done well. But the comparison to Stoner isn't even close. He's running on Valencia setting for a reason. He's there to test parts, not set up a bike for a race weekend. In order to do that effectively, you need a consistent base setting for all three days which is why he hasn't touched the settings. HRC have been VERY smart with how they have done this round of testing. While all of the amateurs are out fiddling around trying to set up their bikes, HRC have been testing hardcore. Unfortunately for Sic his results won't last long. The go fast parts will take a while to filter down to him as they always do.

"Like you say it's all about being fast and WC ... well Rossi has those championships.. he also has the fastest lap ever on a GP bike at Sepang ahh that is something great to cling on too thanks." Posted by dude He sure has, and all credit to him. But that's all in the past and it's now all you Rossi lovers have left. The new kids on the block are younger, hungrier and faster. The old mans days are numbered. It's a shame he didn't retire on top of his game, now he's going to go out with a fizzle just like Schumi.

"my favorite rider is Jorge and super sic is up there in my book too. So I am doing just fine. One is the WC and the other 2nd year rider on less than or equal to machinery was faster than your boy over 3 days." Posted by fan Sic spent the whole three days dialing in his bike to the Sepang track (no parts testing). He set his time on a cool track at the start of the day. Stoner posted his time(0.054 slower) on a bike set up for Valencia, in hot humid conditions. Don't get me wrong, Sic did a great job, Rossi must be fuming with him, but the two times don't even begin to compare.

"When you look at the three days of testing. Casey did a hot lap at the end of each day, in simialr tack conditions. Each time he was able to post a faster time then before. This says, that the areas in which he was working on whatever they are, he was able to make improvements on. Found around a second. I don't know if any other rider managed to do faster times at the same time each day. Most got a fast lap in in the morning when temps were cooler." Posted by Scott Exactly. And considering these times were posted with Valencia settings and no adjustment over the whole three days, very scary stuff. Only new parts were tried with the same base setting maintained throughout. I can't wait till he actually dials in the bike for a track.
