MotoGP » Italian MotoGP, Mugello - Saturday practice

Interesting FP3, nicely setting us up for QP. Looks like the front row is a foregone conclusion unless Spies can up his game a little. Here's hoping for a clean and competitive race with everybody finishing. I'm not a fan of Simo but hopefully a decent points finish will put an end to the bickering in the paddock and on the message boards. podium prediction anyone? 1. lorenzo 2. Stoner 3. Spies

MotoGP » Marco Simoncelli: Oops, I did it again...

Dont agree with comments that these are rookie mistakes which he will get over. Simo is 25 races into his MotoGP career and has done NOTHING to merit the hero worship he is getting. Comparisons with lorenzo's crashing in 2008 hold no water. JL started his rookie year with poles, podiums and wins and started crashing afterwards probably due to thinking it was all too easy. What did he do...? slowed down, crashed a bit more, had a think, put in some 4th-6th place finishes and stopped crashing altogether for 25 races. That is how a smart rider develops. Simo still hasn't figured it out.

MotoGP » Dutch MotoGP, Assen - Race results

Congrats to Spies on the maiden win. He was smart to take quick advantage of the incident behind him and gap the field. Pure speculation to say that Ben has Jorge's number now, he has not finished ahead of him in a race when they both suffer no incident. Having said that BS was on the pace the whole weekend and carried that through to ride a perfect race and probably would have won anyway. Interesting to see how so many 'fans' have Simo as their new hero. Why? 'cos you are more interested in cheap thrills from crashes than seeing a championship play out with all the protagonists on track???

I thought race fans wanted to see racing not just crashing. How any proper race fan can think Simo is the best thing for MotoGP is beyond me. Taking riders out, crashing out of numerous races himself when he should be on the podium and injuring other competitors is an ongoing and very doubtful excercise with this guy. The reason he can be fast in qualy and crashes in the race is because he can only switch his brain on for a couple minutes at once. Lack of concentration and too hot headed to have a game plan for a 45 min race.

MotoGP » Simoncelli: I can't wait for tomorrow

There is no proof yet that Simo can be a serious title contender this year or any time soon. He has so far managed some very quick qualy laps and excited casual fans. But he has not once been able to put together a race long creditable performance in 2011. He is a 250 WC and knows how to put a run together to secure a world title. but in MotoGP he is no threat anytime soon for the MotoGP establishment. He needs to relax and let a race come to him, its all about racecraft.
