MotoGP » Smith mugs Ducati duo on final lap

Brad is doing ok, not spectacularly and deserves encouragement and given his chance to shine. However looking at how terrible the Ducatis have been all weekend he could simply not afford to finish behind them. His gap to the front has been closing slowly but steadily race by race... I hope his progression continues as he needs to be consistently ahead of the red bikes and mixing it with the satellite Hondas, anything less is not good enough.

MotoGP » Jorge Lorenzo suffers collarbone fracture in fast Assen fall

Biscuit... No problem mate! No offense taken. I can agree with you having an opinion about DP never winning a championship but not that you guarantee him crashing out in the next couple racers. If he does ( I hope ) go on to win it some will say its cos Lorenzo got injured and you could argue that that's the exact reason DP never won the MotoGP title before.

MotoGP » Davide Brivio (Suzuki MotoGP) - Q&A

My first reaction was also to think that Rossi will be free in '15 and considering Brivio's close ties with Rossi (he has been running Rossi's merchandising company) it looked a shoe in. Would VR really want to take the risk for small money? He is still the highest paid athlete on 2 wheels and I don't think Suzuki has the money available to pay Rossi what he is used to getting. Suzuki does not need to secure a rider till silly season in mid '14 and if they cannot pay a large salary candidates will want to see how competitive the package is before committing. Part of the decision to go racing in '15 I think is to attract a top rider through having a competitive machine rather that paying a huge salary. This coincides with a bunch of racers being out of contract at the end of 2014.

MotoGP » Dovizioso hoping for new frame at Catalunya MotoGP

The lower classes always had a single tyre and for as long as I can remember. Dunlop had/has the monopoly, not sure if a single tyre was in the rules or not. The control tyre in MotoGP came in as a result of Bridgestone getting more and more dominant to the point where even Rossi with the overnight special Michelins could not match the Ducati. That was the time when Hopper had regular top 5 finishes on the Bridgestone shod Suzuki. The though at the time was that the Championship should be about bikes and riders and not a tyre contest.
