F1 » Ferrari confirms Marmorini exit

107SS2009: ZIB, : "with freeze in engine development, will they be able to improve their engines? how does this rule work? can some one explain please?" The FIA did not freeze PU development from the start, development is allowed with a series of restrictions over a seven-year period, the PU parts are divided into 3 categories, ranked 1,2 and 3, the total ranking for the parts is 66, from this total was derived a system of “tokens” that allow changes, example is, changes to pistons will cost 2 tokens, while changes to ignition will cost 1 token, each year the makers will be allowed to chose what parts they wish to change based on these tokens, with the annual number reducing each year, for 2015 there will be 32 tokens available, almost half of the parts in a PU, each year after that the number of tokens will be around 9%, by 2018 there will be only 15 changes allowed (23%).
Do u think FERRARI can improve their engine with the allowed changes?
