MOTOGP » 'Fine-tuning' for Ben Spies

@Sick Cylinder Yoshimura US and Yoshimura Japan, although under the same corporate banner, are ran by entirely different personnel, have separate manufacturing facilities, and have differing approaches to their racing. Crescent is teamed with Yoshimura Japan, not the US crew.

Don R The teaser tweet that Spies made stating he was going "home" does not translate to the BMW deal for me. It would make considerably more sense if Yoshimura USA were to join WSBK, especially given the lack of results for Suzuki this year. Crescent is just not representing the brand as it should, and Yoshimura must be disappointed being attached to that effort. Also, I would imagine that Suzuki has been doing development on a GP bike at their test track. It would be short sighted for them not to be, if they truly anticipated rejoining the grid any time soon. Also the Schwantz/Jordan Pepsi Suzuki rumor may be intriguing enough to appeal to the Corporate PR people at Suzuki to give it the green light to move forward. I guess we just need to wait to see how it all falls into place.

MOTOGP » Illness bugs Ben Spies at Mugello

@Italy 20 - Britain 17 I am not saying that the years where Americans did not compete in any series do not count. Those champions earned their titles and the respect that goes with it. But at the same time, I am not sure that you can deduce that American lack of participation was because they were not qualified or capable, as others have insinuated here. I am well aware that riders from outside of Europe have contested individual races since the series was formed but are you aware that it was actually 1953 before a non-European fully contested for the championship and ran every event?

cont. Another fun fact is that Spies secured a podium in his 9th start, while riders from their homeland have not secured a single one in 253 attempts, encompassing more than 11 years, despite the best efforts of 15 different riders. Spies' current struggles may seem huge, but they really only amount to a single mole hill, when compared to the alps of their own failures. No championships in 35 years, no wins in 31 years, and no podiums in over 11 years, enough said.

Please note that your sarcasm is duly noted Mr Redskin. Also I am not saying that America is the best ever to enter anything, however the mass majority of those criticizing Spies come from a nation that has shown itself far less capable at this sport, than those they constantly berate and are critical of. For instance, Spies has been called a joke, an embarrassment, and pathetic, on this thread alone. But in doing so, it directly reflects upon their own riders failures. For instance, did you know the talentless, Mr Spies, won a race in his 28th start in GP? His critics here, see this as failure. But what they don't tell you is, that during their own current 31 year national victory drought, 40 riders from their nation have attempted to match this feat 1153 times, without a single win.
