F1 » CotA will provide 'great show' claims V8 ace

@CommodoreS I would hope it is not Marco, he is not up to the task. I would rather see Joey Hand from DTM, A.J. Allmendinger from NASCAR, or Patrick Long from ALMS, they are steady drivers that are sure to represent themselves well against the talented field of V8 regulars. You never know though, sometimes a guy can surprise you and raise their game. I once watched Travis Pastrana, motorcycle stunt rider, take a Porsche Super Cup car to a 14th place finish against a solid field of competitors, prior to the 2005 F1 USGP. It definitely will be a great show no matter the wildcard chosen, now you guys just need to come to best road racing track in states, Road America.

@CommodoreS I am glad to see that you are enthusiastically behind this race, I wasn't so sure about you a few months back. Also remember that the V8's have one of their best spokespersons already in the states full time in the form of Marcos Ambrose. I can't say I know of anyone who thinks poorly of him as a driver or person, a true professional in every regard. Hopefully the schedule will allow Marcos to compete as well.

F1 » New Jersey still a doubt, insists Ecclestone

Bernie is an amazing genius! Seriously how does he use his powers of observation so astutely? Of course the streets are crowned to shed water and snow, NJ is in a region with extremely harsh winters. Did you not consider that when you signed them up? Of course not, because all you care about is the nightlife, casinos, and events surrounding the race, not the actual race itself. If he put forth as much effort in making a great product on track, without this current fake and fabricated racing, F1 would not be the joke it is today. LMP's are the pinnacle of motorsport, as F1 has been overtaken and will never retake its once lofty level of prestige. Sad, but true, and it has all occurred under your watch Bernie!

MOTOGP » Ezpeleta explains MotoGP Rookie Rule change of heart

@Ron I doubt that the number of Spanish race fans exceeds that of the US, but west to east Spain being approximately only 400 miles wide and north to south being approximately only 450 miles long, it is far more accessible to all Spaniards. I have been to Indy for all the racing events held there, but it isn't viable for me to travel to Laguna Seca being over 2100 miles away from me. Indy has averaged 73,285 race day fans and Laguna Seca averages around 52,000 on race day, which are low when compared to most venues, although Phillip Island usually is around 45,000 spectators on race day. The major obstacle for fans stateside is the vast distances across our nation, so like you, we watch on TV. That being said, actual race day ticket sales reflect little to the bottom line profitability of a series and for a global series to be successful, it needs to actually be global. Catering to the home crowd will not sustain the series.

MOTOGP » Ezpeleta explains MotoGP Rookie Rule change of heart

@Ron Spain is more than 18 times smaller and has 7.7 times less population than that of the US. Given the size of the US, it is common sense that multiple races are needed. But for arguments sake, DORNA's current schedule would translate to the mythical US DORNA holding six races within the state of Texas, as it is 1.5 times the size of Spain, in a single season. Do you really think that would be embraced by the fans globally? I am sure that there would be a number of Texas sponsors that would gladly sponsor teams but the international sponsors would see little value for their money. Do you think any manufacturers would find it worthwhile to compete in this model? The fact that DORNA are not putting forth any value for the sponsors or manufacturers is why this sport is stagnating. They are only concerned with their country and have no global vision, it is obvious and glaring for all to see. Not quite as funny from that perspective, now is it?

MOTOGP » Ezpeleta explains MotoGP Rookie Rule change of heart

@Rowles So if an American corporation were to buy MotoGP and then began hold four races in the US, a couple in Canada, and one in Mexico, all the while giving special treatment to American riders at the expense of the others, you would not have any problem with that? This thread would be several thousands posts long if this was true and they would not be posts of support! The only exceptions made to the rookie rule was done in favor of Spanish riders, FACT! Of course Spanish companies are going to back the series, Spain hosts four events so it is wise marketing to their consumers but in the process the international corporations have been alienated and see it as a less viable avenue for their marketing and it is hurting the sport. It is a self serving mindset, concerned only with Spanish matters.

F1 » Mallya: Force India has to raise its game

@Mike It is a bit unfair to judge Sutil as lacking because he is no longer in F1. Talent is a minor factor in today's F1, where half of the grid is there on wallet size not merit. If you had the cash, even you could get a seat today. Let's face it, Senna and Schumacher, in their primes, would be doubtful to produce a single good result in the Midland, Spyker, or the Force India cars Sutil raced. His record coming up through the lower ranks displayed that he did indeed have talent. Although his image may be tarnished and is not appealing to F1 teams, he can still be a valuable commodity in another series and if placed in the right situation, even produce quality results.
