F1 » Ecclestone responds to NASCAR criticism

@cbrbambi That was me, and I base it on my sons and their friends (import tuners) understanding of power to weight , areo, etc. We watch F1 together and they talk intelligently. I'm an old SCCA, IMSA, TRANSAM hand, club raced GTIs. My boys grew up in this environment where you turn right as well as left. I used to watch the NASCAR road course races. BUT NASCAR lost me with the fake yellows and white green finishes. And I just spent 2 days in Daytona watching the Rolex, and damn if NASCAR didn't manufacture that finish, after 24 hours, as well.

F1 » New systems 'disturbing' drivers – Lotus

Now that the tyres are transmitting even more torque backwards to charge the PU, it became necessary to add another complicated system that can fail. The 'break' by wire. I think the effect these loads are going to have on Pirellis magic tyres is more wear, and a lot more spins, if Hamilton is having issues, so are others I can't imagine some software trying to duplicate the feedback from the road to your foot, after all your driving experience has been acquired with real brakes. In the future, when this technology crosses over to new road cars, glad I'll be racing wheel chairs.

Okay, over time, I got used to power brakes and power steering. And I completely understand what David and Richard are saying. My point is if the drivers, not the engineers, are saying that they are having to adapt to the feed back from the road, and the harvesting is changing their cornering technique, then its another synthetic answer to a question that shouldn't have been asked. It can't be similar in feel to last year, if drivers are speaking out. And Richard ... when the mgu-k fails. the car fails. You won't need brakes very long.

Maybe the logistics problems are true. But its short sighted to say they're playing to a different audience. Actually NASCAR is in somewhat of a lull. The future race fan in America is the kids drifting around in imports, who can identify more with F1 than Nascar. Gear heads in America have few choices and none are good. The new combined GT challenge, at Daytona was run by NASCAR, complete with the phantom yellow flag to bunch up the field for a green-white finish. Seems F1 would wan't to raid the limited audience while the plate is hot.

Racemaster: This scheduling conflict with NASCAR is far less damning than the Formula one TV deal with NBC! Last Season the switch from SPEED to NBC was devastating to me as a F1 fan. The coverage so bad at most races I opted to watch the Spanish television broadcast as opposed to the NBC Coverage. The coverage was A. complete, and B. had far fewer commercial interruptions and C. didn't have the commentators constantly trying to explain to the neophyte audience what was happening.
I agree about the NBC coverage and the commercials. fortunately, the races last year were so predictable, we didn't miss much. This year. however is playing out to be must see! Of course they'll still be explaining the new rules in Abu Dhabi
