Over his merc career, almost everytime I saw Shumi actually racing it was usually with Kamui or Sergio or Pedro. This was compelling to me, was it either Shumi no better than these mid -packers, or they liked dicing with him to learn some skills?

I agree, they ARE a manufacturer, and not being able to transfer new racing technology to their road cars makes F1 a very expensive hobby. Perhaps they should concentrate on sports cars until Bernie moves on. Although I expect he will live forever based on some secret immortality drugs that only he can afford.

@ droog How do you propose to fund 300,000 jobs? Mine was one of them. Many of these people are my friends. I worked at the Cape many years and I hate it. My own children were raised and my house was paid for, working there. But we saw it coming, privatized un-manned orbit and we moved on. Exploring space when your trillions in debt is not a high priority right now. BTW, calling the very highly educated President an idiot is childish. What have you accomplished?

Well their new driver proves that point. Obviously, if they can sort out reliabilty and pit issues the cars will aready be in the hunt. It's the drivers that would be the wild card then.

The problem with American racing is series management, not engineering. The France boys ruined prototype and AMA racing, and now have their tentacles on the remains of Panoz' once great series. Then you have open wheel, the last bastion. Split before, and now a spec series. The real US roadracing fans are left with vintage racing and SCCA.

@droog "thanks Obama" So the American privatisation of space exploration on the heals of financial collapse of almost the entire free world during a total standoff and frozen policy making in the USA can be summarily blamed on one player? Many of these talented engineers have found work with Space-X, the legacy of the 'global market' a product of the morbidly wealthy who make the final decisions no matter who is in the White House.
