F1 » Is F1 2015 louder? Drivers, teams disagree…

I agree with the comment about this being a trivial point. For me it is. Sure it sounds different, but meh. What I really hate is that the drivers can't just push and push. But for that I blame aero that stops cars from closely following another car, tyres that suddenly die rather than wear progressively and fuel restrictions that mean lift and coast. Bring back racing, real wheel to wheel, lap after lap racing that would be exciting to watch even if you had the TV on mute!

F1 » Toro Rosso pair call for answers on fuel

Richard, whilst I agree that ballast is not the way to go, and that other teams should be catching up rather than falsely trying to balance the field I have to ask 'How?' In season testing is not allowed, engine development is frozen and the costs are so astronomical (after more than a decade of cost cutting...) that this is just not realistic. Take off the engine freeze (lets face it is does nothing to save costs as manufacturing an engine is peanuts compared to designing one!) and introduce a cost cap to development. Let's see the teams show us how amazing they are at solving problems, rather than show how amazing they are at thowing money away!

F1 » Promoters will walk away over sound ‘disgrace’

I don't know what is worse? The sexist comments on here about women who watch racing, or the people with zero interest in the sport saying what will kill it... Yes, the cars sound worse - but the start of the race was one of the most exciting that I have seen in a while. There was action on the track, there were people side by side around corners - now that is what I want to watch! As for the comparison to MotoGP, thanks for the decision to remove it from public TV I didn't see the race this year, I followed the text commentary on this site. And you know what, I couldn't tear my eyes from the screen waiting for the next update! It was exciting even without a picture! The next day I watched the highlights on this sight, without sound as I was in the office. And it was damn exciting and amazing to watch! Surely as fans what we should be demanding is a spectacle to watch, not an exhaust to listen to instead.

So female is a sexist word that belittles "wimmin"?
No, of course not. But 'Females' when used to belittle half the population is. Female is an adjective. Woman is a noun. Using female as a noun is either someone not used to the language (not everyone is a native speaker) or using it as a noun the same way it is use to describe animals. Yes, that annoys me. Centuries ago it 'female' was used as a noun (by Austin for example), but even in those times it's use was appreciated by everyone. And, just to be a little on topic, I still think that this race had more action in the first few laps (and not DRS action at that) than most last year! :) Edit: What would stop me from going, and does, is the obscene cost of watching F1 live! I have been to the Assen TT multiple times (and will be going back) and it cost 58 euros for a weekend pass with a grandstand seat at the back of the track where you watch 75% of the action. Compare that to 300+ euros

The point about the sexism was this: The screaming engines also block out females from asking questions every time a car passes Females. Really. Using the word in that sentence, that way does two things. Belittles women (even stops women asking questions every time a car goes past would have been better), and generalizes the whole female population into those who are ignorant of what you think is important. As for the wheel to wheel, in the BBC highlights they showed a lot in the early laps. Cars going around the corner side by side, giving each other enough room to race, but not wanting to give up position. Not every corner, and only in the first few laps - it did get to be a procession after that.

F1 » Teams fear more 'dull' one-stoppers if Pirelli play safe in 2014

So the teams complained they wore out too fast, and are now complaining that they last too long. And to say that the spectacle of racing should be in the pit stops shows just how lost this series is! Make cars that can follow other cars, slip stream and overtake naturally and maybe the spectacle will be back without faking it with DRS, tyres with poor degradation etc. The teams should be supplying the entertainment, not the tyre company...
