Why the hell no new grid places! It's already a depleted field, they have history, as long as they pay the entrance fee I don't see why you would try to make it even harder to join the racing... As someone else has said, you almost hope the ignore MotoGP and concentrate on their SuperBike effort... Sad really - I love this sport and go to watch the TT most years, a field full of Moto3 and Moto2 followed by a small group of MotoGP bikes with a large wait between them passing and them coming back...

@ Southerner: No, when he moaned he was called a moaner. I didn't read Rossi moaning. He said that they were arguably the slowest of the three in contention for 5th (I'm sure you can't argue with that?) but he would give it a go. That is not moaning, that's saying lets's get out there and see what we can do! The difference is that when Stoner won he moaned that this wasn't right, or that wasn't right. When he had to fight he complained that the other rider did not give up his place easily. When Rossi loses a fight on track he still has a real smile on his face because he is a racer! Of course he prefers winning, but even this year I've seen pictures of him in the pits, after losing a race long battle for some lower place (6th IIRC) and he was beaming because ge *could* fight for it. That's why I like Rossi, when he wins and when he loses.

But Rob.. How big are those tanks? I appriciate that they want as little weight as possible in the car, but if they feel that having to carry fuel that add's say 1/2s to a lap gived an advantage of 3/4s per lap on pure power then they will find a way to fit a bigger tank in the car andf claim that extra 1/4s. Limit the fuel and that's not an option anymore - they have to find the performance without using the extra fuel. I do agree though that making the F1 car fuel efficient does nothing to the eco credentials of a sport that flies teams around the world. Nor will it help with costs, as making a V6 produce 800+bhp within tight technical confines probably means less performance per 1m spent. If they teams really wanted to save money they would, but the only ones that want to are the ones who cannot survice - the rest don't care. Until it's their turn of course!

He's not just having a go at Rossi, he is having a go at every single Ducati rider since 2007. He is an amazingly quick rider, and watching him slide that thing around Assen was fantastic to watch. But his personality, and especially the comments recently, are just bitter and twisted. He rode the Ducati well because he has no fear win or fall off - and for the first year it worked. Maybe with a daughter he's losing that lack of fear and that is what is costing him now, and is thhe reason he's quitting. Eitherway - taking his comments seriously means that he should shut up about the chatter problems on the Honda (who have done more in 1/2 season to help him than Ducati have done for him and Rossi combined sine 2008) and change his riding style to suit a bike with chatter - or doesn't he have the pride to do that?
