MotoGP » Checa enlisted to help with Ducati development

cont... If race wins was his only target then he wouldnt have moved to honda. For now, it is impossible and unfair to casey that some fans compare his record against rossis as rossis records are simply out of reach. Let me know when or IF he reaches mick doohans record. Then we'll discuss the possibility of him gunning for rossis championship record.

MotoGP » Checa enlisted to help with Ducati development

Don't bother with Troy Bayliss, he's a has been Posted by LCtanner I wonder why new fans or so called sports fans calls previous world champions a "has been". At least these champions have been champions. Unlike 95% of any present grid who have not, will not, never will be champions. Rossi is a 9 time world champion. Stoner twice ONLY. Bayliss, thrice WSBK champion. Simple as that - fact. Also, new fans always say "stoner is the king of 800cc era". Such statement is stupid! It's like saying Jenson Button is the king of rear diffusers or vettel is the king of front wing flex or drag reduction era. Such a stupid statement. Stoner is a motogp champion 2007 and 2011. That's it. And by the way, a single championship in four years with ducati is nothing outstanding. Stop with the "he won races on the duc". When it comes to stoner, rossi, lorenzo or any champion, we are talking about champions and championships, not race wins. If race wins was his only target then he wouldnt have

MotoGP » Rossi emphatically denies quit rumours

They are the best of friends, they meet almost everyday, they train together almost everyday, they try to compete with anything every time they meet, he was like a younger brother, he was unavoidably involved in the incident. Now, it would seem that rossi carries with him marco every time he hops on a bike and races. Every time a fan looks at rossi, they would also see marco as well. If rossi quits, marco's memory might fade little by little. In marcos memory, rossi should keep on racing until such time he can't. It will be good for him for healing and good for the sport. Imagine if he, a nine time world champion, quits. Alot of youngsters who looks up to VR and Marco would think twice as well. I'm happy that he is staying.

MotoGP » Brivio: Rossi will not retire

This would not be a good time for rossi to retire. He is the sports ambassador and arguably the strongest (in general) rider on the grid. Alot of young upcoming riders look at him and say "WOW! What a career! I want to be like Valentino Rossi" It would be a big blow to motogp if he retires. If he does, alot of riders would think twice as well. He is a 9 time world champion, and unfortunately he has a small responsibility to carry the sport through this tragic moment. Everything should stay as normal as possible. Continuity is the key. Plus, Sic would not want VR to retire. I wouldnt know what Sic would say to VR but I would assume it would be something like "Vale, we are warriors and this is what we do. Go ahead and dont worry about me. I'll be with you all the way"

MotoGP » Doohan: Stoner could beat my records - and Rossi's

One more thing. Some like to compare riders by having a single bike brand as a denominator. That's up to you as a fan. But these guys are champions and legends, and even the great Mick Doohan look at records. Race wins are for those who haven't won or not good enough to be a champion. World titles are for those who have been champions - considered the best throughout the season and not just a single race. And I'm sure Stoner would settle for nothing less than another championship. So, let us do Stoner some justice by not demoting his talent to just race wins but let us look at him as a champion and his championship record now and maybe the future. Remember, he wouldn't have moved to Honda if race wins were enough.

MotoGP » Doohan: Stoner could beat my records - and Rossi's

"Easily surpass" - he has the talent but the competition now is fierce unlike some 8 years ago. i expect a max of 3 world titles but can get as many wins as doohan. Posted by ty Hi ty, Just my opinion, you might be right with 3 world titles. My guess would be 2 championships. However, I would say that the competition of the "good old days" were more brutal and fearsome compared to today's. It's just that people like doohan, rossi, surtees, or lawson made it look easy. Japanese riders of yesteryear were just as cruel (although they never won championships). Remember laguna seca 2007 when stoner complained about valentino's riding, doohan said that during his time unsafe maneuvers and life-threatening skirmishes happened every weekend and every race. Just my observation.
