MotoGP » POLL: What will be a success for Rossi in 2013?

It is good for the sport to have different nationalities up the front of the field on the factory bikes. It lets the spectators feel more of a sense of involvement and lends what is becoming more of a Spanish series an international flavour :) As it stands we have 3 spanish riders on 2 hondas and a Yamaha so great to have an Italian on the other Yamaha We do have an American on a factory Ducati but I cant remember the last time I heard the American anthem, likewise the English anthem.

@Codger Ducati thought they had a championship in the bag when they signed Valentino - a one year plan :) Everyone thought it would be down to Jorge and Vale fighting it out - including Valentino But really with the benefit of hindsight, 2010 was the year Jorge's skills exceeded Valentino's, they were very close the previous year, I cant see Valentino ever beating Jorge now unless injury ends Jorges year.

somebody said the expectations of his fans will be even greater than when he moved to Ducati, you must have a short memory.... Its hard to know what will happen next year, dont forget the other player in all this - Dorna - I believe they effectively scuppered Hondas chances of a win this year with their tyre machinations - who knows what they will pull this year!

I am not so sure about Rossi being at his peak in 2008, his yamaha team mate JL was in his rookie year and still learning the ropes, DP on the factory honda had Nicky as his team mate and already the strain of trying to repeat his performance on the tricky Ducati was taking the edge off Stoner. Dont believe he had strong competition that year. In 2009 JL was the runner up in the championship and clearly faster than Rossi who only pulled off the win with superior tactics, but the writing was on the wall and in 2010 Rossi crumbled under the pressure from JL. Would love to see him go head to head and make it a three way battle next year but that doesnt seem likely.
