MotoGP » Pedrosa wins dramatic Japanese MotoGP

Great result for Dani after the accident here last year- I thought it was cheeky of him to claim the victory for Honda and in the press conference mention it was the first win at Japan for such a long time! Unlucky for Stoner with the brakes not happening- did well to get back to 3rd and was good to see him accept the occurrence with maturity in the press conference

Indeed I agree, Whether it be luck, misfortune or not drinking enough milk, Dani just keeps getting himself injured season to season and it has and will continue to stop him from ever getting that WC. I also agree that yes perhaps this wouldn't of been Dani's year, with or without the occurance of Lemans, after he dropped it with no pressure at Czech... but in saying that anything could of happened without the disaster that was Lemans

@ Bikenut cntd These results were by far an improvement from earlier in the season and showed that it was at this point is where the Honda started to come good in it's 800 era. (sad it took them so long). As for this year, I don't like using the Lemans incident as an excuse but it's not fair to say Dani hasn't shown performance this year when he missed three 3 races. Prior to Rnd4 he was ultra competitive especially after getting the shoulder surgery to fix last years issue. I mean, imagine if this year the result had come down to rossi taking out stoner?

@ Bikenut I am speaking of the top 4 from last year Val, jlo, casey and dani. Last year chasing down Lorenzo seemed very far fetched, I agree, but it was possible and websites weren't ruling it out because of the way that the Honda was performing compared to Yamaha in those races coming out of the break. Conjecture or not what your saying is because Dani, (Let's face it, Honda's only real hope for the WC last year), was not showing results for the last few races due to injury, that the Honda was a dog up until the end of the season when they got a 100% fit top class rider onto it despite showing the significantly improved results coming out of mid season: 2wins 2seconds from 4 races

@ Bikenut Yes in the time between Rossi making the announcement and stoner getting on- Honda did not win... Why? because Dani had a broken collarbone and finished the remainder of the season strapped- but before the events of the throttle being stuck open Honda had seemingly turned it around and the bike was looking the strongest. Out of the mid season break results Danis results 2wins 2seconds Lorenzo's 1win 1second 1third 1fourth Stoner jumped on at Valencia and was like a duck to water with the bike- of course he would after riding that front end, problem plagued duke Anyone of the top 4 riders getting onto the Honda this year would of made it worked - Pedrosa was just unlucky yet again with injury at le mans not to be able to show his true performance on obviously the most dominant bike. Hats off to Stoner he is the deserved champion, he has raced well on the best bike

@ bikenut You forget very quickly mate, leading up to the Japanese gran prix of last year there were news headlines about whether Pedrosa was going to catch Lorenzo in the championship, Pedrosa had won 2 races in a row and almost won aragon too. It was only the incident he had when the throttle locked open and broke his collarbone the first time that ruined his chances of catching the Yamaha with 4 races to go. The fact is that the Honda came out of last years summer break a new machine. It hasn't been just because of stoner this year. I'm not going to say Stoner hasn't made that bike work for himself and that he isn't a great rider- he is certainly the fastest out there now but to say the success of Honda this year only comes down to Casey is not true.
