F1 » Hamilton: We should be pushing flat-out

Making the cars 5 seconds a lap faster will achieve absolutely nothing in terms of entertainment or as a driving challenge. Take Lulu's pole lap at Bahrain, fastest ever lap at the circuit but did it look even moderately exciting from inside or outside the car? Nope it didn't. In contrast I watched the Senna documentary (again) last night and the in-car footage of his qualifying lap at Monaco was breath taking even after seeing it about 500 times. The car was a handful and clearly he was using huge skill to keep it on the track. That Senna lap took 1min 22 secs - every car at Monaco was faster last year even the Marussia's and Lulu was 7 seconds faster than it. Proof that speeding up the lap times is not the answer I think.

F1 » Rosberg hints at Mercedes contract extension

Hypoc: Massa might be leaving, there could be a seat for you at Williams.
The problem Merc has is who would they replace him with? Nico isn't exactly the most talented on the grid and he seems like a fairly mild mannered chap yet him and Lulu have had more fall outs and hissyfits than a girl guide summer camp! So they need to find someone who's not that fast, extremely laid back, impossible to offend and is more than happy to come second, what's Taki Inoue up to these days?

F1 » Engine change 'slowly destroying F1', says Ecclestone

I don't understand why coming up with an effective F1 formula is so difficult. We all want the same thing after all, close racing, the ability to overtake and the chance for more teams to be competitive. The thought that the guy winning the races was also the best driver of the day and a bit of noise would also be nice. So a fairly straight forward V8 with 900-1000bhp, vastly reduced aero dependence, a huge reduction in costs, tyres that allow racing and enough fuel to get through a race without effing lift and coast! That would be a sensible place to start.

F1 » Raikkonen: F1 politics and bullshit is crazy

It's not a drivers championship any more it's a manufacturers championship, look at the Aussie qualifying first race of the season when things are often mixed up, 1-2 Mercedes, 3-4 Ferrari, 5-7 Toro Rosso, 9-10 Force India, 12-13 McLaren, 14-15 Renault, 16-17 Sauber, 19-20 Hass, 21-22 Manor. with a couple of changes in fortune every team on the grid would have lined up side by side. Are all these team mates really that similar? The cars are clearly too easy to get the most out of them and the drivers make little difference. I would imaging if all the drivers were stuck in different cars the qualifying result in terms of manufacturers would have been nearly exactly the same.

F1 » Raikkonen: F1 politics and bullshit is crazy

Hypoc:
Taipan: He doesn't say much but when he does talk he tells the truth.
One of the few who speaks his mind and gets to the point, some others can learn from it and we'll all be #blessed
Not sure who you mean, could it be the dude clad in full Arabic dress with a Jesus medallion dangling from the toilet chain that was round his neck, while claiming nothing but love and respect for the Bahraini culture despite it having one of the worst human rights records on Earth? Was it him by any chance? #Humble

mrfill: Isn't it amazing that we can agree with Lulu..... :) Did you also watch Mavericks of Motorsport as well last night just before Senna? That had some excellent footage as well.
I cunningly stopped short of saying that out loud :p I missed the first half of the Mavericks prog, enjoyed the second half though the Matt Neal and Jason Plato footage was comical.
