F1 » Hamilton resigned to strategy limitations

ZeFrenchAngle: Yes Mercedes should give first pitting choice to the guy in the lead when the strategy is still the same, but they should then allow the guy behind to vary his pit stop strategy on the fly ! Otherwise it is pointless saying "we are letting them race" and then shackling them like this.
They're not being shackled in the slightest. 99.9% of the time the leading driver gets first stop and whatever strategy they are put on is going to be the best possible strategy available. All teams have operated this way for decades. If the second driver wanted a different strategy it would have to be a compromised ie poorer strategy, imagine the whining if they did that. You can't have the lead driver being put on the best strategy and the second driver being put on an even better one, there is only one best strategy. The problem here is, even with DRS, Lulu and Nico can't work out how to overtake each other and that has nothing to do with strategy.

"the strategist will give whoever's up ahead the best strategy and the guy behind will have the second-best strategy" So what you're saying Lulu is all the races you've won from the front in the last 2 years were down to an unbeatable car and a favourable strategy? Strange, just a couple of weeks ago you were saying it was all down to your natural ability....

F1 » Six of the Best: Dead Rubbers

Allow me to spread just a little hope... According to Auto Motor und Sport - Lulu's championship is provisional until the FiA carry out a full strip down and check of his dominant power unit. They haven't been able to do it so far as all 4 of his allocated PU's are still in use. The checks will happen next week after the GP and will take 3 days to complete. “Should the engines not meet the rules, the driver would be disqualified from the entire season,” claimed Schmidt. “The rules in this case are merciless.” Please, please, please let it fail. It would be comedy on a biblical scale!

F1 » Hamilton resigned to strategy limitations

richard:
ProfessorX: this is only true if the conditions are the same (car/environment/tires) w/ both cars and the drivers are the same and so is the setup. I don't think I would be caught dead trying to make that proposition rich, it has more holes in it than a lot of the stuff the FIA calls rules.
you dont get it? the cars are the same. f the strategies are the same, then the better driver should win. that is what a race is.
You missed the "environmental" differences Richard, God knows what they could be, was global warming getting in Lulu's way?

MrJones 85: This is so stupid and you guys are still arguing about this stuff. Whomever gets pole position in F1 usually wins the race.
If that was true it's strange that of the drivers who have more than a handful of poles very few convert more than 60% of those poles into wins. In fact the list is so short I'll give you it - Alonso, Button, Vettel, Fittipaldi and Ascari. Most and I mean the vast majority convert less than 50% of poles to wins. Quiz time (a bloody simple one) what current driver has a 100% pole and win ratio?

F1 » Calm Hamilton out to halt Rosberg's run

mrfill:
George Zaidan: On another subject who made lulu a spokesman for road safety? If he is not crashing cars in parking lots he is driving with one hand on the wheel the other holding a cell phone and his eyes no where on the road but his cell phone. He probably thinks he is at the race track alone at the front.
Oh George, he's no mere spokesman. He is an FIA Ambassador for road safety. *swoon* Ferrero Rocher all round....
"Mr Ambassador your comedy parking is really spoiling us"

F1 » Calm Hamilton out to halt Rosberg's run

MrJones85: Well, if you think about it shouldn't be too surprising. Some people on Crash actually thought putting a monkey or there grandmothers in that Merc would perform just as well or better than Hamilton and Rosberg!
Nigel Mansell actually said a few months ago that he thought he could match Lulu's times in that Merc, a 62 year old who was a distance behind the best of his generation, says it all really. As for monkeys, more personality than Nigel and better at driving across Monaco at night than Lulu, maybe not a bad idea....
