F1 » Maldonado 'very happy' to leave Williams

The more I think about this, the more I think Maldonado is screwed for 2014. Go down the grid by teams - Red Bull - no vacancy (wouldn't sign him in a pink fit anyway) Mercedes - no vacancy Ferrari - no vacancy Lotus - with the Quantum deal done, likely to sign Hulkenberg. McLaren - no vacancy Force India - may have a seat, but surely Perez would be signed before Maldonado. Don't forget Perez comes with Carlos Slim money. Sauber - no vacancy if Sirotkin's Russian backers come through. Torro Rosso - no vacancy Williams - just sacked him Marussia and Caterham - I'm sure he thinks they're beneath him. I doubt his ego would let him drive for these teams and even if he did want to, they've got the big teams looking to parachute their young development drivers in (such as Bianchi). Good riddance, I say.

F1 » Lotus stint would have been 'too risky' - Hulkenberg

Oh, for goodness' sake Boullier, sign him up before someone else does, you fool! Declining the Lotus offer for the last two races as he has done is pretty smart, I think. He's right about adjusting to an unfamiliar car. I'm not sure why Maldonado is sounding so smug. Lotus have their money from Quantum, so if they have half a brain between them they'll sign Hulkenberg. Sauber have the Russian cash and Sirotkin. Force India seem happy with their lineup and even if they weren't Perez with his Carlos Slim money is a MUCH better proposition than Maldonado. I just can't see (wishful thinking perhaps) that Maldonado has any options anywhere on the F1 grid.

F1 » Perez unsure on F1 future

I'd like Perez to go to Force India to replace Sutil. All the other seats are taken by reasonable quality drivers, so it's nice to see that the rubbish quality pay driver phenomenon (as so perfectly demonstrated by Maldonado) is beggining to subside. Yes, there are still pay drivers in F1, but at least those coming through now are reasonable drivers anyway (Bottas, Gutierrez).

F1 » Massa joins Williams for F1 2014

I've no idea why everyone thinks that Massa to Williams = Maldonado to Lotus. My understanding is that the two driver signings are independent of each other. Williams wanted to drop Maldonado because they were sick of him. They've managed to replace at least some of his PDVSA money with Massa's Brazilian commercial interests and also get a far superior driver. The driver that Lotus sign is swinging on the investment deal with Quantum. If Lotus get their cash, they sign the good driver - if the Quantum deal falls over, they go for the rubbish pay driver. Given that Quantum have said they're in with Lotus, I think Maldonado is a out of the running. @JJJ - here's my wish list Williams - Massa Lotus - Hulkenberg Sauber - KA-MU-I! Force India - Sutil (actually, I don't care) Nowhere near an F1 car - Maldonado

F1 » Maldonado to leave Williams for destination unknown

@JJJ - he inherited pole after it was stripped from Hamilton due to a fuelling cock-up by McLaren. Even if his win was remarkable, it was still a fluke. He's done nothing since then to warrant positive attention. The sooner he leaves F1 the better. If he gets that Lotus seat over Hulkenberg, it would be the biggest injustice in F1 in recent times. I can think of no better example of a talentless hack buying his way into a drive over a penniless genuinely talented star in waiting.

@jlr689 - stop shouting. I agree that the FW35 is garbage, but he's still awful as an F1 driver. You're right, he is a race winner, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's worth keeping in F1. The FW34 was a competitive car and after his fluke win, it took him 10 races to get back in the points. TEN. He won a race and yet still managed to finish the championship way down in 15th place, behind eight drivers who didn't win a race. He is massively inconsistent.

F1 » Pastor Maldonado's F1 future in doubt?

Maldonado to a top team like Lotus while Hulkenberg is on the market ... HA HA HA HA!!! Not even Eric Boullier would make THAT bad a decision. Actually, Hulkenberg doesn't have to be on the market for that to still be a laughable proposition. I say good riddance. He fluked one win and has done absolutely nothing since - he can't even make the points if he isn't ramming other cars out of the way (and I'm not just talking about 2013). There is genuine talent waiting in the wings while this guy takes up space. For heaven's sake Sir Frank, sort out the finances and get back up the front with some quality drivers.
