F1 » Retirement far from Webber's mind as new Challenge begins

@Rob01 - That is my understanding as well. The all up weight is not in fact the hindrance, it is the ability to use ballast in the car for balance that is the issue, i.e. Vettel can and Webber can't, meaning that Webber's car is at a disadvantage before they even turn the... err... external starter motor. @FunkJ - the increase in minimum weight has not alleviated the problem as that extra weight is taken up with KERS and potentially also DRS hydraulics. I would also hazard a guess that the monocoque or safety cell is also now heavier due to increases in safety (namely penetration) requirements. Take a look at some photos of Webber from 2008 and compare them to now. He his a LOT skinnier than he used to be.

F1 » Ricciardo, Caterham rumours intensify as STR sits tight

@FunkJ - I care what @Richard has to say because his arguments are usually balanced and well thought out, leading to interesting and thought provoking analysis and debate. I don't agree with him on this occassion, but that doesn't mean I don't value his contribution. Pull your head in. @Richard - I think the point is that by all available measures, Ricciardo is a special talent. He was 2 whole seconds quicker than the next best in his young driver test at end 2010 (Vettel got pole by only 0.031s), he has been quicker than both Buemi and Algersuari in Friday P1 sessions this year, and has had the measure of Liuzzi after being thrown in the deep end at HRT. He just keeps coming up with the goods no matter the challenge.

F1 » Maldonado holds on to Williams seat

Maldonado can drive a car quickly from time to time, however I don't rate him as a good racing driver. A good racing driver is more than just occasionally quick - they are calm, level headed and smart. Maldonado is none of these. His episode at Spa with Hamilton is a classic example. As is his inexplicable behaviour regarding blue flags at Abu Dhabi - what idiot doesn't learn from their first mistake and goes on to get punished for the same thing a second time?

F1 » Kubica manager denies Renault statement

Robert - RUN DUDE. Get as far away from Renault/new Lotus/Genii GP as possible while Eric Boullier is there. Boullier is a few stubbies short of a six pack - the guy couldn't manage a small group of 6 year olds on to a minibus. I'd love to see him at Ferrari, but they wont take the risk - he needs to prove that he is race fit first. Can we all just agree to ignore Boullier until he goes away?

F1 » Maldonado: I'm sure I will fight for the title one day

All drivers make mistakes, the thing that separates the top drivers is that they learn quickly, adjust, and go faster. Pastor - why did you not learn after your drive through penalty for ignoring blue flags in Abu Dhabi and get a second penalty? Why did you continue to be overtly aggressive to Hamilton at Spa, resulting in a penalty? Your attitude will see you lucky to get another race seat mate, let alone get a shot at a top team capable of winning championships. Clown. I wonder if he's been comparing notes with Vergne?

F1 » Force India vow to keep pushing

Is it just me, or is everyone else sick to death of "(insert F1 team or personality here) vows to push hard/keep pushing/push at every race?" I mean, this is motor racing, is 'pushing hard' not the default setting? Any team not pushing hard doesn't belong in, well, any sport really. In other sporting news "Nadal vows to hit ball, win games", "Michael Clarke vows to run between wickets" and "Kewell vows to kick ball".
