MotoGP » Ben Spies fastest as Honda skips day two

The argument that when Rossi goes many of his supporters will go is frankly one of the reasons I can't wait for him to retire Rossi acts and always has acted like a clown. If you like Rossi because of his off track antics then fine - but that is not racing and maybe you should question your love of RACING. EDIT by CRASH.NET! Inappropriate comments removed.

MotoGP » Ben Spies: 'Scary' Stoner can be beaten

OK - I have just looked it up. Here are the gaps from Stoner to the next Ducati on the grid. Places for each are in brackets (stoner Place), (Next Ducati place), gap in sec to nearest 0.1 sec Race 1 - (1), (7), 30s Race 2 - (5), (11), 20s Race 3 - (1), (3), 8.1s Race 4 - (1), (6), 26.3s Race 5 - (3), (5), 21.8s Race 6 - (4), (3), -0.1s Race 7 - (1), (6), 19.4s Race 8 - (1), (7), 38.1s Race 9 - (2), (7), 34.1s Race 10 - (5), (2), -28.3s Race 11 - (1), (9), 43.5s Race 12 - (1), (6), 19.4 Race 13 - (1), (5), 24.8s Race 14 - (3), (9), 41.6s Race 15 - (6), (1), -31.2s Race 16 - (1), (2), 6.8s Race 17 - (1), (11), 35s Race 18 - (2), (5), 20.4s Just where would Ducati have been without Stoner in 07? You draw your own conclusions but it looks a lot like 2011 to me. Until Stoner left nearly everyone thought the Carbon Frame was a reasonable option. Look at the reaction last year. I could argue that no-one I can think of has had such talent that they have TWICE caused a sea change in opini

MotoGP » Stoner: This is why I go racing

@ Reaper46 I think you have mistaken my comment completely the wrong way around. I was saying that Stoner has had some epic races and Rossi has named most of his greatest races as against Stoner, so I really can't see how some say that Stoner is not a racer. Furthermore, Stoner wants to win RACES. Rossi wants to win championships. To me, that makes Stoner a racer and Rossi something else, not sure what, but not a racer.

@ Baylistic346 I see the point you are making about the braod window - and CS has mentioned this too. He has also said that there have been occasions when they were chasing set-up and the lack of prior knowledge was a problem. Two races immediately come to mind - Assen and Laguna Seca - but there were others, so yes - I do think Stoner would have been more dominant and will be so next year. Thing is, this time next year we will know which of us was right :-) Keep safe.

@ Baylistic346 If you don't think prior set-up data is significant, you have never raced. THis is why Rossi's achievement on the M1 when he first went there was such an acheivement. It is also why Stoner doing the same thing in arguably a more competitive season (certainly Stoner's team-mates - unlike Rossi's - had the same level of support as he did) is such a huge achievement.

MotoGP » 'Decent' day for Rossi, competitive if wet

@ zooms dad I know what you mean about even club level racing experience and people on here and fully agree - but I completely disagree with you about zoom's mum this time. I have the most amazing respect for these guys because there is NO WAY I could be half as quick as they are, and I KNOW I am (or rather was) quick by most people's standards - my old timesheets tell me so. It is the same analysis I did of my own progress that tells me Rossi has made no practical progress this year.

To whoever hit the disgree button above. In 2007 I was ridiculed for saying Stoner was proving he was something special and fighting the idiots who said he was the traction control kid. Those same idiots in 2008 ignored the fact that Stoner destroyed his team-mate again and called me a fool whenever I made this point. In 2009/10 I was told I was an idiot for pointing out the same thing and told that Stoner was a crasher and that the fact all Ducati riders were crashing was irrelevant. In the 2010/11 off season I was told I was a Rossi hater for saying that he wouldn't win a race and would be lucky to podium - baring exceptiona circumstance. I was also told I was stupid to think that Pedrosa would get regularly beaten by Stoner. You may have a better track record reading the evidence than me. If so, I'd like to hear you justify why you think Stoner won't be more dominant in 2012 if Honda have a reasonable bike, but I won't hold my breath waiting for you.
