That doesn't make any difference for the leaders. Lorenzo has 11 laps in the top 15, 9 in the top 10 alone. It's not even remotely close. Then you have Rossi, a lonely 2nd and Marquez a distant 3rd followed by the pack.
its that "followed by the pack" that i am interested in...namely iannone vs marc vs pedrosa vs stoner...also whats suzuki's pace..things like that..you are correct in the sense that it doesnt take a genius to figure out that the yamahas are leading...

MotoGP » Rossi hoping for top speed parity

top speed yeah...but his biggest opponent is on the same bike...and currently it seems lorenzo is simply faster both on a lap and in terms of pace... besides that, the fact that lorenzo is so comfortable right off while rossi needs to get this setup fixed doesnt bode too well... i sincerely hope this base setup works for most of the year....if every third race they need to start from zero, his chances of a title go down considerably

MotoGP » Sepang MotoGP test times - Tuesday (Final)

while the crash did take away the softs, they nevertheless did go all out in the end....lorenzo improved his pace twice (both in the final hour)... in terms of race pace..from the analysis file lorenzo seems to be putting in many 2.01's (low to mid) and occasionally going 2.00 on new tires... rossi is next with a consistent mid to high 2.01 (generally his fastest lap is very close to his pace which is why he was lower down the sheet for most of the day) after them, all are doing 2.02's...petrucci is also in the following grp which is pretty impressive

MotoGP » Sepang MotoGP test times - Monday (Final)

motogp fanatics :P should check out the results analysis.. basically Lorenzo simply dominated....his 8th lap was just a tenth slower than Rossi's 52 (Rossi's quickest lap) also he put in 5 laps under Rossi's best after him with 14 "2.02 and under" laps, next comes rossi with 13 ( rossi did put in 20 more laps overall ) dani was 3rd highest with 8 2.02 laps out of 34 and marc had about 7 out of 50... overall, looks like yamahas with the least testing (yet) are still the strongest...and being a rossi fan, i hope rossi can take that next step this year and challenge for more wins

MotoGP » Rossi: Sepang comments changed nothing

the way i see it.. whatever marc did at PI, Rossi's conclusion at Sepang was that each rider ride his own race... from marcs speed up until the race, he and Pedro were the front runners and expected to fight the win...Rossi and lorenzo would probably duel for 3rd marc didnt do that... from general marc strategy..or a general Sepang strategy..one generally conserves energy till the end and makes a move..rossi couldnt afford that since he had to catch lorenzo...marc could since he claimed he didnt have lorenzos pace (he basically deduced that in 3 laps) i feel rossi made remarks which didnt exactly impact the championship...marc's actions did..and robbed us of the deserving end to the championship

MotoGP » EXCLUSIVE: Bradley Smith Q&A

last year, i was of the opinion the bradley doesnt deserve the Tech 3 bike...he got a lucky chance this year, he has definitely matured as a rider...lot calmer...when you are calm, you make less mistakes.less mistakes means less crashes..less crashes means more points. seeing the current satellite riders, he is definitely the best based on performance. Does he deserve a factory ride ? ummm..not yet..he needs to take another step..from last year to this, i dont think his speed increased a lot..he just got very very consistent (where others crashed - like dovi for eg) if next year, he can start mixing with battles for 4th..maybe ending 10 seconds off rather than 20+, then maybe he has a chance

MotoGP » EXCLUSIVE: Nicolas Goubert (Michelin) - Q&A

warm up crashes are a problem once you solve general crashing....currently many riders seem to crash "without any warning" from the michs i think thats their priority...better warm up, tyre life etc are tweaks you do later on the thing that worries me is their front had issues from the start of this year and it still is the same...what can they do in these 4 months..i hope they find something...else next year's title may be decided by who crashes the least...although as a plus, none of the top riders (except marc) crashed in the last test

MotoGP » ‘Time is a gentleman’ in Marquez, Rossi rift

the only thing with honda/marc's explanation is there are a few points which just dont add up... 1. marc knew pedrosa was coming....from 6-7 laps to go ,pedrosa was clearing cutting the gap by 2-3 tenths every lap 2. marc was really close to the back wheel of lorenzo (so close that it actually seemed like lorenzo was slowing him down) in turn 5 or 6 i think...this happened for 4-5 laps in a row 3. on the 2nd last lap, pedrosa was so close that marc (if not through the pit board) probably heard his bike...he still didnt make a move in turn 5 4. coming from 14 overtakes in 2 laps to not one move in 30 laps, it doesnt add up...if marc really wanted to win, he just had to slow lorenzo..and the easiest way to do that is overtake him and mess his lines / corner speed

MotoGP » Honda: This was our biggest mistake…

Honda may have come out in support of Marc...which is as they should since he runs for them But the faces of the Honda members after the race (when marc came in) were completely smug...they totally expected Pedrosa to win the race...and the fact that Marc obstructed him and didnt even attempt a pass on Lorenzo didnt seem to make leave them happy...marc was the only one who had half a smile on his face (maybe because Rossi lost the championship)...even pedrosa felt a bit dissapointed as he believed he had the pace for the win at the end of the day, lorenzo was very fast throughout and is a deserving champion...however, it should have ended that way without on track interference by marc...he should have let rossi's words pass or simply responded off track...words are wind
