MotoGP » Lorenzo and Pedrosa: From enemies to... marriage?!

Your rivals are yours to destroy in competition, not to become buddies with. All this "golly gee, look how well they get on with eachother" bs is in the realm of those looking in from the outside. On the inside, you have one goal - to beat the living daylights out of each and every one of your rivals. The only rivals I ever bothered being friendly with were those I knew we had covered. There's a couple of adages that, in my experience, always hold true in motorsport, "Beware when your enemies are friendly." and, "If people aren't hating you, you're not going fast enough." Winning is a tough business. Only losers are worried about what their rivals think of them.

MotoGP » French MotoGP, Le Mans - Saturday practice

@justforfun I put it down to the tyres. I think they just don't suit Spies (i.e. he has been unable to adapt to the new tyres). I also think this has a bit to do with Rossi's sluggish start to the season relative to the other slow riders he was in front of last year. To make this point about the tyres, Tech 3 told us earlyish last year after testing the tyres to be used in the 2012 season, that Crutchlow would be markedly better in 2012. So the 2012 tyres suited Crutchlow more than the 2011 tyres. Or to put in the other way 'round, Crutchlow failed to adapt well to the 2011 tyres. This year, on 2012 tyres, Spies has failed to adapt. I believe this also applies, to a lesser extent, to Rossi. You have to hand it to Stoner, Lorenzo and Pedrosa (moreso Stoner and Lorenzo), they just adapt to whatever is handed to them and can pump out front-running pace. Very impressive.

MotoGP » Doohan unsure Stoner will retire

Hopefully Mick makes an effort to have a chat with Casey. To me it appears that Stoner has reached a decision based on placing weight on the wrong things (like how much credit people are or are not giving him). He needs someone to help him understand what is important and what isn't. Once that understanding is acheived, a new decision my be in the offing. Here's hoping.
