F1 » Mansell praises F1 safety; JYS claims lessons still to learn

The 2012 spec Indycar is actually a large step up in safety. For one the aero styling on them prtects the wheels a bit more and the cockpit area has been improved for safety. The current spec chassis has been used since 2003. Ironically Dan was the test driver developing next years car. I don't know if it would have made a difference in this case, as it was a really horrible accident but it makes it even more upsetting knowing that this race was the last times these cars would be used

F1 » Webber ponders 'what ifs' on team's day

Poor tactical call on Red Bull is right. Lewis was struggling bad with tires at that point, losing all kinds of time to Seb and Mark was clearly faster than he. The mind boggles sometimes as RBR could clearly see that the Mclaren would need to make an imminent pitstop. . .should have stayed out. It was also a bit disheartening to see him take the fight to Lewis for so long (as you could see the Mclaren was a bit faster on the straits) and when he finally makes a nice pass, just to have the DRS rob it back from him on the next corner.
