F1 » Ecclestone bribery trial ends with £60m settlement

skally: Where is the money coming from as I understand from a recent tv programe he claimed to have paid all his money into a trust for his wife and daughters and to avoid paying tax said he had no involvement or control of this money so if he draws from this trust is the british taxman going to have a field day or is this deal already done.

TalentFan: [ Thing is Honda & Yamaha HAVE access to the spec ECU and software through their Open Class entrants. So they have plenty of time to work out how to convert their bespoke stuff to the language the spec ECU needs. And esp. The software will be standard. No-one will be allowed to 'convert bespoke stuff'. The code is fixed and the code will only do so much. Honda/Yamaha currently use their own code which does more and produces/uses additional data to that from the bog standard software. That will be of no use as the software will not be able to process it. The open bikes use the same ECU as everyone else. 8 bikes use bespoke software and these will lose that advantage

contd. The difference between the factory and their open bikes will be purely mechanical (e.g. pneumatic valves). Yes, the factory bikes will still have an advantage but it will be much less than now. I reckon the savings on software development will be spent on mechanical bits and especially aero, where there is a lot more scope for gaining an advantage.
