Don Hopings: Your bias is showing. You forget that Alonso brings baggage. He seems to have a very polarizing effect at places where he's been. He cost McLaren a bunch of money and he was the only one who benefitted from CrashGate. As much as I respect his abilities, I wouldn't have him.
I agree with Tai on that, and so would most readers here. The funny thing is that while most people dont like or are not fans of Ferdi - Most people recognize him as the best all rounder. He always gives 100% and bats the car above its weight. Only the die hard Lulu or Bieber fans disagree. So yeah in fantasy pick most people would go for Alonos first. Lulu also comes with baggage ! Just mentally destabilize him and he crumbles.

Zizzu10 - thats great !!! Even Seb won 4 titles in a row !!! Has your GOD Lulu done that ??? But at the same time the history books say whether they were hollow titles or not !!!! Come back down to Earth !!! Every F1 book questions Schumi in the 90's but no one questions his 2000 wdc. Thats how it is !!! Even Gilles is a great by most peoples standard, without a title like moss !! Basically, if you started watching F1 in 2000 ( which is the worst people to deal with) then your opinion is worthless. ****** off and learn some history. I still learn some from Richard, as much as I dont wont to admit !!! and I'm from the 80's

Well Hunterman, allow me to retort. 1- Who cares about marketable - Have you heard the saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity" It means Lulu has made a complete tw@t of himself since his arrival in F1. The year he crashed many times with Massa and multiple stupid crashes take the cake. 2- Sensible Lewis fans ? everyone knows Seb is a fony ! 3- Shoulda, coulda, woulda's dont count. There has been too many drivers that "shoulda" won a/more titles but didn't. There is too many to list but I'll give you one driver that "should" have won a wdc = Massa 2008 !!! As for winning the most gp's for a Brit, Clark and Stewart had half the races in a season to make their stats - Lulu will never be on the same page of "greatness" as Stewart let alone Clark. These two drivers were the stand out best of their time, Alonso is the most regarded in this era. Even Lulu has said Ferdi is the best all-rounder.

Year after year the Lulu fanboys vote Lulu the best no matter how good or bad he does - that's not being objective that's being one sided. The poll asked people to take everything into account, not who your fav driver is ! Dan exceeded expectations this year - Majority of people know this. 3 wins where he shouldn't have won - No other driver did that. Best at tyre conservation - While being very quick at the same time Showed excellent racecraft - Put on a show all year long Didn't moan or whinge and kept his head the whole season. Beat Seb - in quali, in points, in races, in race wins, in overtakes - and nobody thought he would do that. Rarely made mistakes on track Solid 3rd place in the wdc - Would of thought Seb or Alonso would have that. Theres prob more Im missing but it all adds up, and people voted Dan, deal with it biased Lulu fans.

Dan surprised the heck out of everyone, from the very start of the season putting his car on the front row, to that very last race where he came from last to 4th. He seams to have a pretty good mix of quali and race speed, excellent race craft, knowing when and when not to push, good wet skills, a bit of Webber's bad starts and all while looking after his tyres ! But overall he's right up there with the best this year, and to top's it off how he easily dispatched Seb this year especially when Seb had no car issues. Massively enjoyed his racing this year, he brang something new and fresh to F1, with a smile to boot. Congrats Dan and Merry Christmas to everyone !

Hunterman - So what if the RB's went for a wet setup, they took the risk and were still easily beaten by the Mercs. Lulu got a run down the straight, Ros went right so Lulu went left and pretty much won the corner before they got there - that's no amazing pass, a standard garden variety type people have been pulling all year. Dan, regardless of his setup was passing on the outside of turn 6, on the ripple strips and white lines (which people spin off for) and made it work when he couldn't pass anywhere else being down on HP. Like I said before, I've only ever seen 2 pass there before - 1 Schumi and 1 Massa so passing there is extremely rare. So only Lulu fans would think that was a better pass than Dan's. Another reason why Lulu fans cop so much flack here for obvious reasons - Can't see the wood through the trees !

Ok. Lulu did win the wdc so he gets some points there. Most people would have thought Lulu would dominate Ros this year - he didn't. So he loses points there. Ros beat Lulu in quali - not only was Ros quicker but Lulu made many more mistakes. Isnt Lulu meant to be the next "Senna" ? He should of moped the floor with Ros in quali so more points lost Lulu did win in the on track battles with Ros - ok ill give him that. How he dealt with Monaco - Bad stuff and again it showed Lulu's bad consistency when his heads in the gutter - A wdc should not be like that. More points lost. Not doing more with easily the best car - more points lost Trying to retire at SPA instead of trying to score points - points lost Too many negatives, where Dan is just positives.

Norville2:
ToddCreek: That's ok in my book. Lewis is the next Senna and will crush the competition from here out.
Just remembering him going around the outside of Rosberg at the Japanese GP, in the rain. There is no one racing at the moment other than Lewis that could do that. He does some many great overtakes that they seem to go unnoticed.
You're kidding yeah ? Dan was overtaking people all day on the outside of turn 6 - Something I can only remember Schumi (that was a double overtake too in 97 I think) and Massa doing (forgot which year) Lulu's overtake was ordinary, and plenty of people have overtaken there on the outside in previous years. Pfft only Lulu could do that. Dan's overtaking this year has been epic, selling dummies, round the outside, from way back like in Austin, big duels with Alonso like in Germany and the many passes on Vettel. Ric is easily the best overtaker all year. Thats not an opinion, the proof speaks for
