Balls, he's worked his way to where he is via scrapping it out on privateer bikes back in 2001. He's also lost out due to the showdown system previously and would have had it won before now this year without the showdown format. Plus he's had more than his fair share of misfortune with rides in WSBK that weren't what they were cracked up to be.

EmmBee1964: Last time he had the very best kit and was far ahead of everyone in pre-season testing but come the races he was nowhere. He deserves another shot (if that is what he wants) and I will be cheering him on.
Ran out of space on previous reply, can't remember where I read it but his kit that year as Checa's teamate was less than equal (allegedly).

Never understood why it is that SB can't perform at world level. Twice now he has been there for a season and failed with the very best kit. Winning your home round is one thing but he never was able to put a year on the road together. Lets hope that it is 3rd time lucky if he gets another shot.
As mentioned in my above post, those rides weren't all they were cracked up to be. With bikes that were less than equal to his team mates by all accounts - can't rememb

It's good to see the red bikes back up towards the front. I'd be very interested to know how their fuel consumption compares to the Yamaha & Honda and with it how much (if any) their progress would be impeded if they were tied to 20 litres. I also think that the semi factory 'open' class should have the same tyre allocation as the full factory bikes, since the whole point of it was to allow bikes with less power to have a slight advantage - not to give 'factory' bikes qualifying tyres and then have them shred their tyres in the race as they don't have access to the harder compounds.
