MotoGP » Mystery solved for second fastest Smith

@SuperSick58 "Everybody can turn a fast lap..." Really, why aren't you on the grid then? Why didn't I carry on club racing and end up in MotoGP? I was slow, most other folk are slow compared to club racers. Anyone on the GP grid is extremely quick. BS has just posted the second fastest laptime in testing to the current World Champion, which makes him stupidly quick. Yes, he may've had some bad races, but that doesn't mean he is underserving of that seat. If he was, Herve Poncheral wouldn't have put him in it.

"That would be the day when a well funded, competitive team is not allowed on the grid because of PBM.. " I wasn't meaning PBM per se, just that there are other teams looking to move up and limited places. Of course there are politics and sponsor concerns, but a team like Tech 3 would not want a poor rider on their bike either and neither would Yamaha. Anyone that can lap like he just has in the post race test deserves to be there.

WSBK » Jonathan Rea - Q&A

when you get give a chance to ride a motogp bike you have to give it a real go, as it maybe your only ever chance, not just ride around etc, you have to make them sit up and take notice and he didn't make them do that.. anyone get close to 30 that isn't already in motogp isn't going to get a full factory ride in motogp that's a fact I read somewhere else recently that his brief from Honda was to 'bring it home' and not to push for a result, so he did what he was told. With free rein to go for it the results may well have been very different.

1MoreRound: How, in a series as huge and prestigious as Moto GP, with all of the resources that is has, do you end up getting a "bad" tire? How is it possible? Bridgestone does not have the QC in place to ensure that every tire is with nearly exact spec of every other tire they put out? I simply don't get it.
Having read Casey's book, not all is often as it seems from the outside in MotoGP. Too many folk are far too quick to comment and jump to knock people for things they know little or nothing about. Sadly the advent of the Internet has given them a soap box from which to spout. Last paragraph not aimed at you by the way 1MoreRound.
