WRC » Latvala still leads in Italy, despite engine scare

Latvala must of been gutted to have overheating issues in Monte Lerno but he has managed to get it back to service and it was intermittent rather than Terminally progressive so that is a Relief. Now the VW Mechanics just need to identify the issue and sort it out for the afternoon run. Not an Ideal Itinerary if I am Honest, 2 stages early on then a huge Gap in the Action before the short and long stage are Re Run again Evening time, then again this is Sardinia so maybe all the fans will go to the Beech for a few hours before returning for the Action in the Evening. If Latvala can attack again and the car holds up for him then I am sure that he will once again be able to fend off Mr Ogier and take his 3rd Victory of 2014. If he wins here this weekend then I would suggest he could carry the momentum into both Poland and Finland. If he wins the next 3 he can win the Championship from there, Ogier must already know this too !

WRC » Latvala 'full of confidence' for Sardinia

We all know that with confidence comes belief and belief is what you need to put in the Top stage times to win Rallies. I just hope that Jari Matti can find a really good rhythm right away and that his notes are spot on. I have always believed that he can be the fastest driver on gravel, I remember having a conversation with John Millington (M-Sport) at Barcelona Airport several years ago and saying that if he could just get it all together he could win most of the gravel Rallies and with it the Championship Im not suggesting that he is there yet but beating Ogier Fair and Square in a straight fight over 3 days is NO FLUKE ! I just hope that this confidence will pay dividends for him in Italy and allow him to gain the Momentum to fight for the win again in Finland. I think he can do it !

WRC » Neuville: Top five a huge achievement

lol its easy to get a little quick on the draw to comment but I think I know what you were trying to suggest I have to confess I have been quite surprised at how much progress Hyundai have made since Monte Carlo. I think Sordo is excited about something, maybe he has been assured that he can drive without Team Orders if he finds himself as the lead Hyundai The car has improved a lot since I myself made a comment about the Briggs and Stratton engine, but I think that Neuville will gain momentum in the 2nd half of the season as the car starts to not only perform stronger but become more reliable

WRC » Neuville: Top five a huge achievement

In all fairness the Hyundai isn't really inferior, that isn't so much an insult to Hyundai, but more an insult to all the cars and drivers it has beaten when setting fastest stage times, I think they have had 4 or 5 fastest times now in total This proves that they have come on leaps and bounds with the car and setting a fastest time in the WRC is by no means a Fluke ! Hyundai are an up and coming Team. I Can see them fighting for Overall victories in next years WRC. Neuville will get his victories and be financially comfortable at the same time. A Bright Boy if you ask me !

WRC » Neuville: Top five a huge achievement

All in all I think that the car is doing quite well, far better than the days when Hyundai (MSD) and Seat initially dipped a Toe into the water that we call the WRC I think VW proved that with the right people and the right approach it is very possible for a Team to enter the WRC and get on well almost straight away. I think drivers are a crucial part of any new Team though and having a driver like Ogier or Neuville to spearhead the Team is Vital 5th place was a Good result considering the Mechnical issues that they had with both cars, I think that they will have quite a few issues through the year and will come back a lot stronger in 2015 having addressed them all. Maybe Sordo has an outside chance of again winning in Germany if they get it together and improve the car a little bit more by then.
