WRC » Solberg on WRC return: Only with a proper team

I think Petter winning the World Rally cross championship shows people how high the standards of the WRC indeed are. The fact that Petter wouldn't be that competitive in the WRC if he returned is probably the main reason that he is unlikely to get his demands met by any of the Top Teams even though there is a shortage of top drivers in the WRC I would like to see him get such a deal, but I think it is unlikely. He Fully deserved to win the World Rally Championship back in 2003 and that doesn't come easily. But he is no where near that pace anymore. The only thing I don't like is that the last WRC Rally that Petter won was Rally GB back in 2005 when Sebastien Loeb booked in late not wanting to have it on his record that he won the Rally where Michael (Beef) Park died in an Accident when Markko Martin lost control. Petter must think about that a lot.

WRC » Abbring to lead development on new Hyundai i20

I have long thought that this kid is a Bright Young Talent I am so Glad for him that Hyundia has taken him in and I really hope that he gets a lucky break with them. It was a close call between him and Mikklessen for the 3rd VW seat but sadly for Abring his Rival for the seat Andreas was often challenging Ogiers times when VW were running a pair of Skoda Fabias the year before they introduced the Polo It seemed at the time that Kevin had lost out and dropped off the Radar, but here he is back in the ring again knocking on the door and getting a 2nd chance to put himself back in the spotlight. I think he could be a really good addition to the WRC line up and could really do well given a chance. I wouldn't be surprised if like Elfyn Evans he could get a 5th or 6th place first time out in a factory WRC drive. There are a lot of drivers in this seasons WRC line up but I think he could hold his own against the majority of them given some mileage in a WRC Car

I have long said that there would be Strong commercial value in Petter and Henning forming a Family Rally Team where they obtain funding to run a car each for each other and maybe not do long Haul Rallies like Australia to save on the costs This would be a lot better running 2 cars than just the one like he did in the past. Petter has driven for a Top Team in 2012 with Ford in their last Year as an official Manufacturer team and he didn't even get close to winning a Rally so that boat has sailed. Demanding a seat in a Top team makes sense after winning a World Championship but its a case of sling enough mud at the wall and we will see what sticks Trust me when I say that he hasn't all of a sudden found another gear, but he would be good competition for his Brother Henning, maybe get the odd podium perhaps

for the eagle : Well you have a small point regarding age, but what you forget is that Petter didn't really perform well in his final year in the WRC in 2012 where as Loeb still won the World Championship that year. Petter has been away from the WRC now for 2 years and I don't think he would even be at the level in which he departed. Gronholm made that error too when he returned for a one off drive in Sweden back in 2010 after he walked away from the WRC at the end of the 2008 season We will soon get the chance to see how a Returning Loeb performs in a few weeks time though when he contests Rally Monte Carlo as a one off, but im not so sure he will win that one either, and he is the Greatest Driver on Record that the WRC has ever seen

WRC » M-Sport reveals ‘classic’ Ford livery for WRC 2015

The car they are referring to is actually the Castrol sponsored car that Hannu used to win specifically Rally Portugal and probably a few other Rallies back in 1979 - and not the All Blue Eatons Yale car as they suggested. I know this because I have the Rally Portugal winning model of this very Rally car in my collection, also the Eatons Yale car and many other Escorts - lol

WRC » Citroen aiming for WRC Drivers’ Championship podium

Yes I cant help thinking that the current cars of today are a bit Dull. The old cars were Real cars and I think that todays cars are just too tame. I think the older 2.0 cars in the early 90s with 400 BHP before active diffs were spot on. The Legacy RS, Impreza and Celica ST165 were some of the best sounding cars too, and the ST185 had a spectacular Anti Lag system. I think that Rally cars should have flames and pop and bang a lot because that's just one of the many things that makes the sport so attractive to watch. There is nothing wrong with it being a proper Mans Sport where the cars are loud and aggressive, I keep saying that the sport is twice as spectacular in the Dark especially if the cars are Loud and Fast with flames to amplify the effects of the dark. I know the F.I.A are unlikely to return to 2.0 cars, but maybe they will support the cars having more power perhaps using a 40mm restrictor again and more visual excitement so the cars have to be thrown around more
