MotoGP » Ducati: 'No further plans' for Open MotoGP class

I suppose though that Ducati need to decide who they want to appear to be competing against. If they switch and say "hey, we beat the rest of the class" everyone will simply put that down to Yamaha and Honda factory bikes not joining them. A hollow victory at best, that is if they manage to win in the open class, a feat that may be more difficult than first appears given the machinery coming through. They need to be seen to be successful against some meaningful competition and for now that means lining up against Honda, Yamaha and in 2015 Suzuki. I wonder when/if Kawasaki will rejoin the party.

MotoGP » POLL: Should Marc Marquez be penalised?

Anybody who has raced a bike knows that this is nothing worth penalising. He wasnt reckless but simply outbraked himself staying close to a competitor. Bike racing IS dangerous, accidents occasionally happen and people do occasionally get hurt, sometimes they die. But this is no reason to eliminate all risk. If we did that there would be no racing of any sort. What occured with Simoncelli was another one off, its sad but it happens. Had the tables been turned and he had crashed (inadvertantly) into another competitor I'm sure he would have decided to continue at the next race. But don't punish a racer for doing the very thing he is expected to do. If anything, blame the teams and over reliance on electronics to keep the bikes upright.

F1 » Kate Walker: The dark cloud

With respect, this isn't a motor racing accident and was not related to the danger of racing vehicles. It was a straight industrial accident that occurred within the confines of a racing paddock while moving heavy objects using lifting gear and fork lifts etc. No different to somebody getting killed in a warehouse.
