107SS2009: One thing I cannot understand is the so called experts reasoning that Honda will be using some performance tokens in Canada when they are still trying to overcome/fix reliability problems, what will be the use of performance tokens if the performance increase cannot be made use of because of unreliability?.

btr100: Ferrari must stay close and force Mercedes to push in the race. If Mercedes pushes their soft rear tires have no chance. I am looking forward to the race.
Pretty much what I said in another thread, tyres and how the Merc and Fezza chassis/drivers can make them last is key, I believe Ferrari pace is just enough to force Mercedes to start hurting their tyres in the race, and if not it wont be long before it is IMO. Historically I think its fair to say Merc has always been harder on its tyres and I believe its still the case but no one has had the pace to push them to find out untill maybe now. I also forsee Ferrari strategy playing a big part, they are smarter and more ambitious than Merc IMO.

107SS2009: Mercedes will win on the majority of the tracks, because the majority of track have a bigger percentage of slow track sectors than fast sectors.
If Ferrari can push the Mercedes race pace above their comfort zone, you may well have to change your thinking there 107. I don't believe it's as clear cut as you seem to think it is. IF and it is an if atm, Ferrari can push Mercedes race pace we could see Ferrari passing Mercedes during the stops, if not on the track. I think there is still an ? above Mercedes tyre wear rates now we have another car capable of pushing them on race pace for a race distance, we will find out soon enough.

I think you will find the closest Vettel got to Rosberg was +1.44 in the second stint, whilst Rosberg never got closer than +1.8 to Hamilton in the same stint, and that was for only one lap, it was consistently near or over +2.0 for the rest. Vettel did not have the pace to touch either Merc period, Rosberg could have closed the gap up to Hamilton if he felt he was being pressured by Vettel but the fact is he didn't have to. I would say the gap and tyre were managed to perfection by Hamilton with him also speeding up when he wanted or when asked to by the team.
