F1 » Hamilton crashes out of Q1

janhein: cars leaving the track with all four wheels in the last corner have been allowed to keep their times
It has been deemed that going "all four wheels over" on this track is not an advantage. However surely the knowledge of no penalty is an advantage in itself. Knowing your can approach a turn with too much speed and not have to brake as hard as necessary to keep the car within the confines of the track, and possibly lock-up, ultimately must save time and tyres. It's Good to Talk.

richard: janheim. no advantage was gained by having all wheels off the track, as astroturf is used and this SLOWS the car down. that is the reason why it was decided that there would be no penalties. i am sure that the decision was made after checking times.
Richard. I guess the feeling is, if you approach a turn "too hot" and you leave the track boundary to preserve your car/tyres, you may not have gained an advantage in time , but equally you may not of gained a disadvantage which may have occurred if you tried to keep the car on track. I think we all like consistent rulings at all circuits. It's Good to Talk.

F1 » Hamilton: So slow it’s boring

“You're driving so slow to look after the tyres it feels like you have to slow down too much now to the point that it's a bit boring.” The headline makes this statement sound a whole lot different. Lewis has an opinion on the the track and conditions. I do not imagine many of the posters above read past the headline though. Lewis has a great record here, so a good chance of closing the points gap to Nico. Seb looks quite handy too, maybe some high end points for him this race. It's Good to Talk.
