MotoGP » Bridgestone to introduce new MotoGP front tyre

@lemmy I know we live in a bit of a nanny state, compensation culture etc where any time something happens there has to be a victim and a perpetrator. But how can this be a question of fairness? All the teams are in the same boat. It's not the first time a new tyre has been introduced during the season and it wont b the last. People make a lot out of the 4kg thing too... all of the teams got the extra 4kg, not just HRC. Its just Stoner is the only one to mention it. If Yamaha and Ducati can deal with their 4kg then so can Honda. Yamaha had been developing their 2012 bike just as long as Honda.

MotoGP » Bridgestone to introduce new MotoGP front tyre

How do people manage to find something controversial in every thread on here? Tyres are always being developed.... this isn't unusual. Plus the teams ALL got to try this and another option during testing and they ALL preferred them apart from HRC who preferred the other alternative. Remember that Bridgstone work in response to requests made by the manufacturers and riders and there is even now Loris Capirossi to aid communication of what he riders want. All teams and riders except HRC voted to have these new tyres. There is no controversy in this story at all for pitties sake!!

MotoGP » MotoGP gets physical with 1000cc

@FRED1 Apparently you are unable to read properly? Do I have to repeat myself again? I am not suggesting he should ride more to FIX his arm pump! You f'ing *****. I am suggesting he should ride more to prevent it coming back in the future once he has got over it this time. The main point being that maybe doing longer runs in practice sessions would help to highlight the potential for these sorts of issues before you get to the race.

MotoGP » Bridgestone to introduce new MotoGP front tyre

I read an interesting article about the two new front options that were being developed. This one that is being introduced was the softer of the two, the other having more structural rigidity. It was suggested in the article that the reason Stoner voted opposite to everyone else is that the more rigid tyre was more difficult and he believes he can ride a more difficult tyre better than anyone else a la Mick Doohan. However with the comments that came from Honda over the Qatar weekend about their chatter being worse with more grip then maybe that is the real reason... Either way i think this season is shaping up to be a good one. Although it still doesn't seem as exciting as it used to be... I was watching some classic races yesterday, reminded me why we need Rossi to be competitive to get some entertaining racing going on!

MotoGP » Qatar MotoGP rider times: 800cc v 1000cc

It is interesting to see the stats. And it is very clear that the 1000 really suits Cal. But shouldn't forget a big reason for his improvement is also an extra years experience, last year was his MotoGP debut and also his first time at Losail. As always some people are getting carried away trying to imply too much based on these stats. And remember, the point of switching to 1000cc and having new tyres wasn't to be faster, it was partly to reduce costs, to improve the spectacle of the racing and to improve safety.
