MotoGP » Cal Crutchlow savours first MotoGP front row

I wouldn't bet on either to be honest. I just mean I don't think you should straight away assume Spies will be better. It's been said often enough that Spies hasn't really delivered yet in the factory team. I'm not sure if it is a case of Cal maturing, last year was his rookie which is always tough. He didn't really like the tyres much and was finding it hard getting used to them and the braking of MotoGP bikes. This year things are different and more in his favor (new tyres, larger engine), combined with an extra year of experience I think he could have a really good season. He needs to try and take advantage of the first few races while his bike is close in spec to the factory M1. If Cal and Spies were on equal machinery all year I really wouldn't like to call it.

If you are a fan of Cal then maybe you should be a bit more optimistic about him..... In the early stages of last year there were a few occasions when I though Cal made Spies apparently amazing debut for tech3 look a bit average. At the same time Spies was having a difficult start to 2011. Obviously after that Cal had a tough period mid season and Spies started a run of better form. They are very different riders but I think if Cal can get a good start to the year and keep his confidence up he will have a very good season. He is a former world champion too remember, even if in WSS.

MotoGP » Lorenzo pips Stoner to Qatar pole, Rossi 12th

Yesterday I made a prediction for the season that wasn't really 100% serious, I said JLo's consistency would be too much for Stoner and Cal would give Stoner a run for his money on more than one occasions.... maybe that might actually happen! From what Stoner said though he will do fine over race distance, his main chatter issue is with a new soft tyre. I think tomorrow we will see JLo fast from the line, Cal too but Stoner will struggle initially but he'll come good in the 2nd half of the race for a close finish. Don't know who will win.

Stoner was one of the few voices in the paddock asking for the harder front tyre from Bridgestone pre-season. Which would make sense if the softer tyre increases Honda's chatter problem... I think Ducati have a similar issue? Which is why Hayden said the slippery conditions helped them on Thursday, more grip = more chatter..... Yamaha surely will win the constructors championship this year.
