MOTOGP » Control ECU confirmed, testing tightened for MotoGP 2014

@Talentfan I agree the current state of motogp is unsustainable, but thats because of limited cashflow compared to costs. However think more can be done on Dorna's part to get money. I am a layman in terms of marketing, but if u see the marketing models of other sports, motogp's marketing is way behind. How often do we see riders/ teams being showcased on tv worldwide? Look at English Football again, look at the brand of Manchester United. There are marketing/ merchandise for it all over the world. We dont get that same agressive marketing in motogp. Why would sponsors want to choose motogp over football then? There are many more examples i can add but really Dorna has to do more instead of tinkering with rules every year.

Further to my post earlier, its also worth to note Yamaha launched a moped in Indonesia having Lorenzo ride around a moped racetrack on stock standard along with local riders and home hero Doni Tata ex 250cc motogp rider. Like in motogp Lorenzo dominated but the bike cut through the turns like knife over butter, without a flinch. Doni was visibly slipping n sliding the bike trying to catch up 2-3 bike lengths away. Great show, good promotion of motogp, by the very manufacturers some say is ruining the sport. Cant blame them for having money, can we? They work for it, they make bikes, market it, sell it. Honda has done its fair share. Have we seen any satellite or crt teams doing it? Any promotion from Dorna?

@Talentfan when all the bikes are standardised, the variable component will then be the riders. Richer teams will have the best riders/teams and will still dominate. Rider and team salaries escalate to the point of where the rnd costs are at the moment (see: English football) and at the end of it the costs will still be high. And private teams are sponsor driven, those sponsors want to be on tv. Unless the cameras are panned to the backmarkers, these teams will be dead too unless they have the money to recruit the best.

We have seen bikes progress from flatslide carbs to fuel injection to customized fuel mapping to fine tune combustion needs even while on the go all thanks to RND from factory teams all this while. In 2014 onwards all these development will be gone in the name of cost saving. Will it really save cost? I dont think so. Man will look for other ways to evolve and money will always be there for those who look for it.

MOTOGP » Qatar MotoGP: Crutchlow 'frustrating' fifth after factory fight

I would say the difference between Cal n Rossi bikes are settings (everything from suspension to mapping) and the brakes. Rossi didnt really outbrake Cal on the pass but they probably brake about the same time. Rossi's brakes prevailed whilst Cal's couldnt slow it down to corner speed hence he had to keep it upright. Suspension settings are some of world's best kept secrets, mapping defines strategy.

MOTOGP » Qatar MotoGP: Lorenzo daunting in the dark

Ged, Rossi made a mistake but he also made a comeback, that is the real Rossi which was gone for a long time. He was hungry to race. Could easily have been beaten if not for that hunger. Dovi had his chance, he is only fast when conditions suit him, much like Pedrosa I must say. When his tyres go off or if the track doesnt suit him, he struggles. Only a handful can be called 'Alien' because they thrive under most conditions, because they really have a racing spirit to go all out. And its nice to see that spirit back in Rossi.

Good ride by Lorenzo. Great comeback by Rossi. Fantastic pace by Yamaha Factory team, dont forget that. Lorenzo 6 secs ahead, Rossi comes back from 5 secs deficit. It shows the pace of the team, which couldve been different if it was a certain red one. Cal tried his best but he forgot he didnt have Rossi's brakes n couldnt slow down on time otherwise it wouldve been interesting too.
