MotoGP » What did you think of BT Sport's MotoGP coverage?

It was satisfactory, but there are big ways in which they could improve their coverage, like showing the morning warm up sessions which are just as important if not more so than the practice sessions when it comes to bike setup for the races, and how many times have we seen riders injure themselves and/or destroy their bikes on a cold track? Not to seem morbid, but I'd rather see it all live than have to wait after the fact and read about it. Showing more of the Dorna feed in general is better than watching Grey Toseland state the obvious in a studio away from the track. They'd do well to replace Keith Huewen too, his arrogant, snarky attitude was grating, along with his constant mistakes. Why not reunite Ryder with Moody and Mamola?

Jack Mordino: Edwards, an "old school" rider liked the Michelin front. He stated that you have to start releasing the brakes as you lean-in, which he deemed as "normal", in contrast to the Bridgestones which offer so much grip that you could lean-in pretty much with full brakes still applied, something "unnatural" to him. Reading between the lines, the Michelin front tyre still complies to the philosophy it had when they were racing side-by-side with Bridgestone. Of course the accidents happened when already at full lean and on gas application so it's not about turn-in but gassing it out. Just sayin'.
Perhaps Edwards is having a negative effect. No one fast these days rides like he does anymore, and for good reason.

mrlong: Maybe its not a case of the Michelins being bad but the front grip of the Bridgestones being stupidly good and the bikes being built to suit those tyres.
if WSBK put on the BStones and the carbon brakes they would be much faster. If they have the TC investment that the GP bikes they would be even faster. Then it would only be the difference between the power that the motors make, but some times that wouldn't be that big of a diff. As for people falling off, well inexperience and setup would be the biggest reason, Michelin's lack of testing would be another. Pirelli have done a decent job in WSBK, and like Ben Spies said, most likely the problem with the Bridgestones are, they are too good (too specific).
You can't just slap on different tires and carbon brakes, it's not that simple.

Well yes, but they needed to change the engine. The engine design freeze rule was supposed to be part of the package to make racing cheaper. All it really did was make racing a waste of money for teams that didn't have a competitive package, because it couldn't be fixed. Ducati took the smart decision to fix the bike, and the cost was the stupid tyre and fuel "advantages".
It was more about Dorna playing ball against Honda. Honda want to spend spend spend, especially on electronics, and Dorna are basically fighting against that, and they have won, because next year everyone will be under the same rules with 22 litre tanks, and most importantly a spec ECU with spec software. If Honda had their way the sport would be in huge trouble, the 800cc

separated: Not meaning to damper the excitement, but people are expecting him to possibly fight for the wins? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I am honestly hoping he doesn't hurt himself, he's been out of it for a long time.
He's 46 years old, WSB legend, MotoGP race winner and a 3 time world champion...not an idiot!
Did I call him an idiot? I'm just being realistic about it. Your expectations are high, so then are you prepared to give a prediction as to where you think he will finish for both races bar bike failures/collisions? Top 5? He'll do well to get into the top 10.

cfsteezy: Seeing how supersport and moto2 bikes lap roughly 2 seconds slower without any electronics makes the millions spent on rider aid development almost seem pointless. I would like to see a gp riders lap time without aids and then with. Like the front 4 guys. I am sure they would turn in some impressive times that would be extremely similar to the time with aids..
You can't just turn off the so-called "aids", the bikes are built around the electronics. They would run out of fuel and not be able to complete a grand prix distance without them, for example. What they need are completely different motorcycles that are not built with advanced electronics in mind.
