MotoGP » Lorenzo disappointed, but Rossi 'unbelievable'

Lorenzo has stated clearly that he can't ride like Rossi can, he can't handle a bike that moves around, this was the reason why he couldn't get the extra hard rear to work. It's not a mystery, so let's not think that it is. He can only ride smoothly, and a bike that moves around under acceleration and braking he simply cannot be competitive, unless he does what Rossi and other great riders do - ADAPT

MotoGP » Lorenzo disappointed, but Rossi 'unbelievable'

@GrandPrixGuy What kind of logic is that? Marquez is sensational, the only one in Rossi's league currently. Rossi got a factory Honda in his first season, too, what is your point? You make no sense. Of the Spanish riders in the premier class who is better than Marquez? Two out of two championships so far. Lorenzo cannot slide a bike like Marquez or Rossi, that is why he is currently not winning. The Honda is the most difficult bike to ride currently, and Lorenzo would probably need to see a therapist on how to ride the thing.. no smooth silky 250cc style will work, it needs to be manhandled, and Marquez far exceeds Lorenzo there. Lorenzo requires a perfectly balanced machine and setup to go fast, without that, he struggles. And when the tires go off, he is not able to adapt. Both Marquez and Rossi have much more skill when it comes to riding with low grip, watch them drift and slide whilst Lorenzo just goes slower and slower, not wanting to risk anything due to lack of confidence.

MotoGP » Lorenzo disappointed, but Rossi 'unbelievable'

@TedG He's no where near complete, he still lacks bravery when it comes to wet conditions and braking late for overtaking. Lorenzo is very much focused in one way, and that's just riding as smoothly as possible. He relies on his style to stop the tires losing grip, but that doesn't always work because when they do, he just cannot handle it. This is one of the reasons why he is so fast on new tires, especially in qualifying, but once the tires get old he isn't as impressive. Rossi has adapted, what he was trying in 2013 wasn't working, he rides differently in small ways.. leans off the bike more than he used to. A mark of a true great. Stoner and Marquez never rode 500s, but you wouldn't be able to tell that with the way they thrashed/thrash their Repsol Hondas.

Rossi has adapted yes, but not always, especially not with the Ducati and as a Rossi fan I feel I should point that out.
Honestly, I don't think Rossi knew where to focus at Ducati. Was he supposed to focus on his riding, or actually changing the bike to make it more like a Honda and Yamaha? In the end Ducati had to completely redesign their Desmosedici, and now they're competitive.

MotoGP » Ninth place Rossi ‘a lot more satisfied’

Do people even bother to read the rules? Honda and Yamaha could have chosen to go Open like Ducati, but they chose not to. The Open category was made to be a cheap and competitive alternative to Honda and Yamaha's factory route. They lose out in qualifying because they chose not to go Open? They have 2-4 liters less fuel? They have less engines and can't develop them? Tough.

MotoGP » Rossi: New Ducati ‘fast’, tyre rule ‘unfair’

@racingfan999 Them's the rules for 2016, have you read them? Everyone will cooperate in the development of the software, and no one will have anything that would be exclusive themselves, IIRC. Say if Ducati found something in the electronics that would make them faster, Honda and Yamaha could use the same thing for themselves, and vice-versa. The fact is that even the factories realize how ridiculously expensive MotoGP is, and that it is simply unsustainable.
