MotoGP » Cal Crutchlow explains Tech 3 contract timing

@pp916 when he spoke to the BBC it sounded very much to me like he was bad mouthing Yamaha. And he took some flack for that. If he has no contract for 2014 then Yamaha and Tech3 between them have every right to sign who they like to that seat. Now it seems like he's realized that he didn't behave like a mature professional and is trying belatedly to do so. If you look at his interviews last year it seems that he swung between petulant teenager and mature professional all year. Maybe sometimes he needs to think before he speaks to the media.

MotoGP » Ezpeleta: BBC to BT like 500cc to MotoGP

@WTF so the BBC "took" sports away from ITV and Eurosport did they? No they bid more. And then they went to pay per view? Wrong. Subscription. Just what was to stop ITV or Europsport or anybody else outbidding BT this time round? Nothing at all. If they didn't bid enough, then they didn't want it enough. Your view of the world is somewhat twisted. The BBC have no control over how much any other broadcaster bids. ITV are certainly not "competent broadcasters" they are in profit these days because they have cut their costs and show mostly cheap to make TV. They simply would no pay enough for MotoGP, look at their usual sunday daytime schedules and tell me why they would pay a lot of money for MotoGP. It doesn't fit in.

@CB41 Ezpalata did not make the mistake of changing to four strokes. The manufacturers wanted that particular change on the grounds that the two strokes were not advertising their four stroke road bikes. The FIM and Dorna were under considerable pressure from the manufacturers (not least Honda) to make the change for several years. So if Ezpelata made a mistake it was only in bowing to pressure from the MSMA.

@bri t so what bikesport do you watch on TV then? I don't think there is any live bikesport left on terrestrial TV now is there? So if you do watch bikesport live on TV then I'm assuming you have Sky. And if you have Sky you'll get BT Sport when it launches. This is just another case of a live sport moving from terrestrial TV to subscription services. Stick your nose into other sport's internet forums and you will see that the same moaning occurs for all those sports, but in every case popularity does not drop significantly. Real fans who don't already have Sky or BT will get one of them to continue watching. If you're not a real fan then why are you even commenting?
